Yes indeed sir! Great times for Heuer & Ferrari in 1975. Somewhat one of the legendary tales of F1. Then the 1976 F1 season can be clearly seen & experienced in the movie “Rush” with Heuer also very prominently shown in the film

The '76 season always gets all the glory due to Lauda v Hunt, but the '75 season was really a landmark year for Ferrari.

Apologies for posting something which doesn't quite fit the 1975 theme - this is from the 1974 Race of Champions at Brands Hatch.

Obviously, I was a bit younger then - but you could arrive at Brands for the Saturday practice, pay 50p ( call it less than 1 Euro... ) for a Paddock Pass, and there you are, standing right next to Lauda's race car, with no-one hassling you.

I loved it ! ( Next day, of course, Jacky Ickx's Lotus 72 overtook this car, around the outside of Paddock Bend, in torrential rain, to produce one of the most famous F1 manouevres ever seen at the circuit ).

 

Great sir! Always a pleasure. Hard to top that, standing beside Niki Lauda’s Ferrari! 1974, this would be the Ferrari 312B3 F1 car if I’m not mistaken?

Yes indeed - the car is the 312B3-74, replaced for '75 by the 312T ( transversale gearbox,IIRC ).

Here's the other photo I took moments after the first, swinging to my left. It's the young Lauda iin his Marlboro hat, standing in front of the Ferrari transporter, talking to Autosport's F1 correspondent, Pete Lyons. As a mere spectator, you really felt as though you were 'part of the action'. I'm glad to have experienced that thrill - being crushed up against chicken-wire fencing just isn't my scene, I'm afraid !

 

I am fascinated by Niki Lauda’s F1 story. Just sheer determination and passion plus the natural intellect on a racecar’s mechanics and dynamics . I admire him alot, aside that he is a 3-time F1 Champion (Ferrari & McLaren) He is very well known to wear Heuer chronographs The movie “Rush” made it more dramatic and more inspiring! It wasn’t hard for me to pick a Heuer Monza because of him and his epic win! Danke Niki!

I was in middle school during Niki's time at Ferrari, but it was his story that got me really into following F1, which isn't all that popular in the US. The best I could do would be to get a glimpse of a race on TV and read about it in magazines and books. A hobby of mine was making model kits and the Tamiya 1/12 scale Ferrari 312T was my first really big and complex project. I still have very vivid and fond memories of building that kit.


Not my kit, pics are from the internet. But I still have my finished model, stored away somewhere in my parent's house.

Makes you realise the truth of what we used to say in those days : 'It's all engine !' An exagerration - but only just.....
