This may be a newbie question but I am looking at these 2 watch models online. The only difference that I can see is that the digits on the face are square on the newer model (cv2a1r). I am just curios to see the actual difference between the newer and older model, I could not find many reviews of the new model, I was hoping the changes would be explianed there but no luck.

I own a CV2A10 and would just like to know what they have upgraded in the new revision.

Think it's just cosmetic changes as you pointed out, and a different bracelet.

It's a long story!
- The original watch is the Day-Date Calibre 16: CV2A10 launched in 2008
- When TAG Heuer started phasing out the Calibre 16, it was replaced by a Calibre 1887 movement (Date only) in 2013 and became Ref. CAR2A10
- TAG Heuer then changed its mind, turned the Calibre 1887 into the Heuer 01 and fitted that movement exclusively to the skeleton dial watches. Therefore, a Calibre 16 movement was added back and, with a few small mods (e.g. the hands), it became Ref. CV2A1R
