Pages 26 and 27 of that catalog show the old CAR2110 and CAR2111 models, respectively, both with the 1887 in 41mm. Still beautiful watches to this day.

 

By the way, that 2016-2017 catalog is incomplete. It doesn't show the new 43mm Heuer 01 models.

 

The seconds hand is now in a different color. Omega Speedmaster style.

New on this forum. Am looking to purchase my first tag. I'm stuck between the calibre 16 day date(cv2a1r), the 1887 date version(car2a10) and the new heuer 01(car201z)with the black display. I like the look of the thinner bezel on the first two but love the link detail on the new heuer 01
My question is should I be going for the newer 1887 movement over the 16. I like the day date but I also like new tech!!
Also why is the 1887 being phased out? Is there an inferiority to the heuer 01? I know there were minor changes but have no idea what they were!

 

Meh, this is a shame IMO. The Day-Dates look cluttered to me. I hope the Heuer 01 will make an appearance in the 41mm size and with a thinner bezel if the 1887s are to completely disappear from the collection.

Makes me glad I have my 300SLR and McLaren 1974 Edition.

 

Either way. calibre 1887 or calibre heuer 02 are a very good movement. it feels smooth and the accuracy is quite consistent. you can't go wrong with any of these choice. IMHO

 

To be honest, for the common mortals we are, all of the proposed movements are reliable and accurate for daily use.
I can't remember the last time I used a chronograph although 99% of my watches are equipped with it.
It's good to know you have a capable movement. And TH will not fail you, be it a Calibre 16, 1887 or the latest H-02.

At the end of the day, it's the styling of the watch that matters, and my personal preference would be the 1887 models over the current update.

 

Well i am a bit OCD. i tend to check the difference between the internet time and my watch. but yeah, most of TH wont fail you. you can rest assured on that. i do feel among my collection, my aquracer calibre 5 tend to have the highest +SPD. always +1 min at the end of 1 week. but even that still fall into acceptable range of -/+ 10 SPD. the rest like calibre 6, 12, heuer 01 have less SPD variation than my calibre 5.

 

I have been wearing my Monza Calibre 36 for the past two weeks. For some reason I missed it.
I can tell you el Primero has been outperforming the others in terms of accuracy and power reserve.

Speaking of which, power reserve is also something very important to me when it comes to a movement.

 

Yeah. that why i like sistem 51 as well. 150 usd and 90 hours power reserve. Now thats insane !

 

Just to follow up, I got the 45mm heuer 01 with steel bracelet in the end. Absolutely delighted with my choice!
Since then my local jewler has the car2a10 for 900 pound off...may have to add a second tag to my collection I like the idea of the 1887 over the calibre 16

 

They seem to have moved away from the less is more concept by adding lots more lines and tick marks to the dial. A shame, IMO. The hand are also less elegant.
