Hello dear members!

Does anybody know, if the Heuer Carrera quartz model (3 hands model) of 1978 has a signed crown or not.
There is one offered on ebay without the Heuer sign on the crown.

Best regards, Harald

The crown was unsigned.

Congratulations! Hope you didn't pay too much... taking into account the actual rarity of this Carrera execution, their value is pretty... hmmm... low. I have a black dialed (ref. 365.253 N) and a gold-plated example (ref. 365.255 CH). You might post some photos here when you receive the watch, would be nice to compare!

Of cause, I will do so, but it takes a little bit longer time, because I go on holidays!

I have payed 450 Euros, that's I think because of the rarity of this watch not too much!

I am a big fan of Heuer/Tag Heuer, therefore I collect everthing of it (Chronosplit, Chronosplit LCD, Kentucky Chrono and the quartz version, Autavia, Camaro, the Ref. 73473 with the Valjoux 7734, the Ref. 16061 LCD, the s/el Chrono, the 1000, 1500, 2-4000 and the Titanium Chrono of the Tag Heuers.
My newest one is the Tag Heuer Formula One Gulf edition.
I am also a big Fan of vintage racing and therefore the link to these watches

I don’t think 450€ is too bad nowadays. I paid £160 or thereabouts but it was over 10 years ago! The rarity is quite regional - all my quartz Carreras (three hand and ana-digi) came from Germany or Austria, they made more sales there than anywhere else.

Worth bearing in mind that, given the ana-digi models were the same price as a Cal 12 at the time, the price now is a relative bargain!

Yes, quite right, the 3 hands quartz models were indeed even more expensive than the same named mechanical Chronographs!
That seems unbelievable today

An example: The 361.705 Kentucky 3 hands quartz model was more expensive than the 750.703 Kentucky automatic chronograph (an austrian price list of June 1977)

Although asking prices sometimes are much higher, from my observation the realistic value is in the 400-450 Euro range. So you did well with your purchase. Only very few die-hard Carrera fans appreciate the quartz versions. Count me in.

Funny side note: When I received the black one, to my complete surprise it came on an original corfam type strap with... an original sun buckle! I think I paid the current sun buckle rate for the whole watch 😀
