Was looking through some old photos over the weekend and saw the shots that I took of the Carrera 1969 back in January 2014. I happened to be in Paris at the time and heard that they had the first delivery of the watch, so arranged to take some photos- although they weren't great given the boutique lights

These were meant to be a limited edition to launch the new movement and I understand that only a few made it out to dealers before the model was put on ice- firstly to be relaunched as the Calibre CH80 and then scrapped altogether.

So this could be one of the rarest TAG Heuers- has anyone seen one for sale?

A beauty for sure. Hopefully we'll see a similar design in the future.

I had the same question (sorry to revive a dead thread) - I saw one in the TAG boutique on 5th ave last year and tried it on, quite liked it but declined to purchase.... I'm interested in picking one up though if anyone has seen them in the wild :)

Hi. Do you remember how much it was? I thought that the decision was made to recall unsold watches once it became clear that the movement wasn't going to be called Calibre 1969. I've seen the steel version of this watch that was originally planned for Basel 2014 before the retro Panda models were used to showcase the Calibre CH80

Don't recall speaking about pricing as I wasn't in a position to buy anything that day; I was bringing my <2yr old Monaco Cal.12 in for service as it had never kept good time. I think it was probably something around US$10k-12k perhaps. It may not have been on sale also; could have just been a demo piece.

This was before the decision to call it CH80 (and far before the decision to kill the movement altogether and turn the brand into a budget Hublot), so it'd have been sometime between the introduction of the 1969, and the premiere at Basel of the CH80.

I will say it was a nice visit to the boutique though, they had a MikrotourbillonS or one of the similar haute horlogerie models that they let me play with for a little while :) Really mesmerizing to see that in person!

I was rereading the article (https://www.calibre11.com/tag-heuer-carrera-calibre-1969-review/) just now and was fawning over how lovely this design is. When we consider all the mutant Carerras of recent years and the Heuer 02 movement making it into a (mutant) Carrera, I really wonder why they are not revisting this gorgeous design.

The date is so well integrated and, if they removed the 'Calibre 1969 Chronograph' text as @Calibre11 suggested in his article, it would be perfect.

I still prefer the CH80 designs over this one.

I'm not a fan either, but that's an easy fix.

In any case, hope they revive this soon. They have already kept us waiting for way too long.

It was a cool design. There was also a stainless steel model planned, but then things change. Every few months I spend some time looking around the internet to see if any come up for sale...one for the true collector!

Stainless would certainly have been more affordable, but the rose gold and anthracite dial work so well. Add in the gold stitching on that strap and you have a winner.

I'd love to snag one..... #dreaming.
