There've been a lot of Porsches so far (Facebook knows what I like, lol) but today we have a Ferrari 512.

And now my absolute favorite from the Group A era.

Fun fact, even though the World Rallycar era began in 1997 the Lancer Evolution continued on in its Group A configuration, and still brought Tommi Makinen four straight WRC Championships from 1996-99.

When I worked in a Misti dealer I used to pick up customer cars for servicing, some modified cars were scary(as was the rate the fuel gauge went down) whilst some had just been improved to better.

Agree sir. “Tuning” is the proper gauge in modifying cars. A specific objective in which area to improve on and maximize. A balance of some sort also needs to be achieve. The whole is still greater than the sum of all its parts 👍

After years of modifying cars, I have come to the conclusion that some of the time, the manufacturer got it right. It’s very easily to stiffen a car too much and loose the driveability on anything other than smooth tarmac. On the other hand, most turbo cars really come alive with a remap

Maybe not a supercar, but it was a lot of fun, but really impracticable. Wife loved it but not enough for it to stay too long.

When you saw the number plate, you just had to have it?

I bought something similar once - it had issues though and didn't get to spend much time driving it. Sold at a loss and a lesson learned, but that's part of life I guess 😀

Took it in as a trade in, Was fun but the hood when down had to stay at home- in Scottish weather!- sold it to a Morgan dealer, at a profit, at least now the Honda hood goes up/down at the touch of a button, and it has a boot.

^ all of the downsides of a motorcycle, none of the speed, costs a lot more.

Never liked these types of cars, I'd just go straight for a Gixxer or R6 etc

Bit more rally porn from my FB feed over the last week.

Parc ferme at Sanremo:

And catching a bit of air with the Group A cars about a decade later:
