Another rally car, but something completely different 😉 VW campaigned the Mk2 GTI in the '80s.

What are forum members' thoughts on the Jaguar F-Type? I currently have an XF and am seriously considering switching to something a bit more sporty, but ideally something that I can get a set of golf clubs in the back of. Seems like you get a lot of car for the money if you buy used as Jaguars depreciate so quickly 😀

If I had the money lying around and didn't need to put two child seats in the back, I would buy one in a heartbeat. It's the best looking Jaguar in years, IMO.

How is your XF Sportbrake going @imagwai?

We chopped in our Holden Commodore SV6 saloon for a Skoda Superb Sportline Estate.

I suggest to have your reliable daily car and get a weekend sporty car 😉

Really depends on what you want and what you need 👍

The Superbs are good cars. Superb in fact!

Love my Sportbrake, but the lease will be up at the end of this year, and I'm currently debating between buying it outright or replacing it with a BMW 3 or 5 series touring, but also wondering if I actually need something so practical at all. We have a BMW 1-series which takes all the family (don't need to use booster seats any more). Might be a squeeze on holidays and long journeys perhaps but don't do many of those. It may be a bit early to go for the F-type to be honest - it was a plan for retirement. But who knows if petrol cars will still be a viable option in 8 years time?! Decisions, decisions.

I personally wouldn't waste my sports car slot in the garage with a heavy, automatic-transmission cruiser but it seems to have its adherents. Be quite different if you could get the full-on R with a stick, though

I've done the lightweight, track-day stuff in the past. I must be getting old, though, as I am increasingly favouring comfort. Can't see me ever going back to a manual transmission tbh.

They look nice, but I'd prefer a classic E-Type.

Very nice, but a bit hardcore and not really in my price range 😉

I’ve looked the F type ragtop, nice, some sound fantastic, but I’m a manual box kinda guy, and of course she says “what’s wrong with the Honda? It’s appreciating”.

I really like the f type, look and sound fantastic. I will definitely test one when I have the spare cash.

I totally understand the desire for something that is sporty but not a race car, I’m too old for that these days

Agee. I have taken one for a test drive. It does make an awesome sound and is an all around really nice GT.

But I am also in the camp of needing a good old fashion manual stick in my sports cars, so the F-Type isn't for me.

I get that, but I’d rather have an interesting practical car with an auto then. An RS6 or E63 wagon, basically the same thing as an F-Type but with extra space

How about a rs6/c63 and an f-type?
