Calibre 16 noise

Hello,

In the last month or so I've noticed that I can hear the automatic mechanism in my Formula 1 - Calibre 16 (caz2012-ba0970) watch. I can sit here and flick my wrist and a noticeable spinning sound that was not their and slight wobbling of the watch. I also feel that the buttons for the chrono/stopwatch function feel spongy.

Is this normal?

I'm not loosing time or any other oddities have been noticed though.

In my admittedly limited experience, the Calibre 16 isn't the most refined of movements...

Calibre 16 is based on the Valjoux 7750 if I’m not mistaken? Isn’t that quite famous for being a “loud” movement?

My 15 year old Valjoux 7750 from GWC was my first automatic and the noise never bothered me but these days it's very noticeable when compared to my Heuer, TH or Seiko automatics. For a daily watch I guess you get used to it and won't notice it after a while.

Hi Farsonic,

The Calibre 16 you have is more than likely a Selita 500 which is a clone of the ETA 7750. The automatic rotor only winds in one direction. In the other direction it free spins and can gain a lot of momentum & be fairly noisy.
With regard to it getting louder, I’d suggest selection bias, as now you’re listening for it 😜
