One question remains, perhaps due to my poor English:
"We want to keep it and restore it back to the way it was from the movie". Do they want to restore it the way before or after Steve "used" it? Might be interesting...

My interpretation of their intent is that they want to bring it back how it was during the filming. My guess is that the 'stunt' traits will be preserved, so I think they try to salvage what remains of the original modifications from the movie for 'authenticity', but will try to make it look as close to the 'hero' car as possible.

It will be interesting to see how much it hammers for. Seems a little risky to not have a reserve. But given the McQueen factor and the super iconic status of the Bullitt Mustang, it should set a new record for the most expensive Mustang ever sold.

Although Sean Kiernan had previously said the family would never sell the car, I can understand why they've changed their minds. They've had it for over 40 years and the money they'll likely get will be life changing.

It's probably a good time to sell it.

Any predictions? I think it will go between 3M to 5M.

    That's a pretty wide spread you're giving yourself. ;)
As I'm a Mustang & McQueen fan, I hope it ends up on the higher side of that range.

I do agree it's a good time to sell it. Not sure how much longer the aura of McQueen will have a strong impact. More than likely, the car will be bought by a rich Baby Boomer or Gen X-er. I doubt that many Millennials or younger generations will care as much (or even know who Steve McQueen is).

Yeah. Mecum has a pretty spread variation. Some bids make sense, while others appear to be driven by charity causes. I'm interested in what this will fetch and if the new owner will do any restoration to it.

Slightly? off topic but did anyone else see the programme with Guy Martin when he reconstructed the jump McQueen did in ‘The Great Escape’? Steve certainly seemed to like anything with wheels to play with.

Yep that’s the scene, the rebuild the fence in the same field in Germany and Guy using a modern (unfortunately) bike goes over both fences, he would have escaped.
Tales from another actor in the film McQueen was constantly rushing about on a bike whenever possible, he may have even appeared in shots in a German uniform riding whatever he could source at the time!
