Now that is a timeless design. Not retro. Easy no?

What’s happening or happened with the Isograph? Anyone know officially?

Seems a lot of investment (and media coverage) in all those carbon machines etc etc to amount to nothing other than odd ones offs.

I would like to know more about this too. Maybe @Calibre11 can give us the details?

I still don’t like it. Feels like TH are trying to cash in on the retro thing, but it’s a mess of styles and doesn’t gel together.

One of the best looking 3 handlers on the market. Of course taste is taste, and not anyone likes or should like every watch. I think the Autavia name fits this pilot/racing type watch perfectly. The package deal is extremely classy, well designed, beautifully finished and also clear to read and easy to wear. Vintage inspiration is one thing, slavishly following a particular release 40-50 years ago makes no sense, making a modern twist with modern techniques makes perfect sense.

I get the general impression this model has not sold well. I've seen the bronze edition sell on chrono24 for as little as €2100 and the last December I saw the blue dial/bracelet sell on ebay for €1200. These are exceptions of course, but they do seem to be well discounted on the various grey dealer sites. I'm a big fan of most things Tag Heuer and I've had an interest in this Autavia since it was released but could never commit to buying it, but not because of the name. The big plus points for me are the case design, bracelet, smoked dial, COSC certification, oversized crown, handset and polished indices. However, the font used for the arabics does not seem right. Also, it would appear the numbers are embossed or printed on the dial? I've never seen one in the flesh so to speak, so I am assuming they are. Perhaps if the numerals were also raised/applied that might give it a more elegant look? I would also like to see how the watch looks with a slightly thicker bezel. Having said all that, if one comes along at the right price, I will definitely add it to my small collection of Tags!

I think on paper this model should be almost perfect but every time I see it in person it disappoints. One of these models that looks better in photos and video than in person. Just my opinion of course.

Interesting! I really must make the effort to get to an AD so I can see them properly (and take in the new Aquaracer too!)

I could show the above discounts against most, if not all Tags, Omegas. And probably worse 50% on brands like Montblanc.
I see rarely on ebay and the prices are not so low. This can mean that people who buy are happy, or not so many are bought.

I think the font is perfect. Its so clear. Its a personal thing of course, but like the large font on the new Superoceans, this is just a new design.
The thin bezel makes it much more racing/aero, a thicker bezel looks diving, and is not so refined. I like the thin bezels on the Christopher Wards, Tudors and Chopards for example. The big advantage of the Autavia is that it is ceramic. Like Rado they are able to make thin cermaics, rather then default to the cheap anodised scratch fest aluminium, which is passed out on the Black Bays.

At the end of the day, its personal taste and what people in the real world buy is what counts, not what forum groupies talk about, who are often way off base with real buyer loved brands (e.g. Hublot, Tag, Raymond Weil, etc.)

Lets see Tag's next move. As the Autavias continue, or perhaps have a minor revision or the most flattering, new versions, that indicates success. It could also of course be a steady seller, at below the Aquaracer volume, but still solid. Specialist pieces by definition sell well in certain Jewellers (centre of large towns, Jewellery quarters) but badly in others (lower income or bulk locations). Surplus stock comes from the less successful locations for the more unique pieces.

Lastly, due to the special dial, unusual centre block bracelet, thin reflective bezel and oversize crown, I actually think this is way better in real life then pictures. It is quite a feast for the senses and probably puts folk off who are looking for something more conventional.

For me, the piece de resistance, is that it can pull this off, be quite unique and noticeable, and still be super sharp and clear for basic time and date telling. That is what separates the men/women from the boys/girls.

Maybe the confirmed (rumoured) upcoming flyback chronographs will amp up the sales figures for the Autavia 👍

Completely the opposite for me, the dial has much more depth in person.

Perfect example that no one should listen to someone else online, the only thing to do is go try the watch yourself 😀 what disappoints someone might surprise someone else. New Aquaracer seems to be similar, for me it was the most boring underwhelming watch I've tried on in a long time, while others seem to think it is amazing.

Does anyone think it's amazing? I think they got samples of every blue imaginable and then whittled it down til they found the most BORING one possible.

Hehe maybe not, it just felt that all reviews have been praising it. But those might be payed ads so who knows.

I’m slowly warming up with the Autavia Calibre 5. I just feel that the “6” is missing 😜

The reason being is that it’s a gorgeous looking watch and probably only a few will get these, so for me it makes a good TAG Heuer #enthusiastwatch only 👍

I still really like the red Autavia with the copper/bronze case (which seems to be no longer available) - it looks like a fire engine!

Wow these will be rare exotic things in 20-40 years time, seemed to be a very short lived model
