A brand new watch that I would actually buy and wear

It's a good spec for the money, but something about it doesn't quite sit right for me. Can't really put my finger on it, though.

Talking of panda dial hesalite crystal watches, I saw one of these in a shop window on my walk home this evening and it stopped me in my tracks. Took quite a bit of effort to start walking again. (Not my photo)

Perhaps the whitespace between the tachy track and the bezel? I like the trace of colour on the seconds hand though. Not much there, just enough. Campaign is at 68% funding after 12 hours -- this bird is going to fly. Stand-by for my first pics on the wrist next May.

At the price of a new roof for my house I wouldn't have broken step ....

..... OK, I would have drooled for a while too. Never mind, next week is my Speedy's turn on the wrist and it's mine, all mine 馃憤

That鈥檚 what puts it off in my eyes and is a bit of a shame.

On the Speedmaster front I NEED to add one to my collection at some point, as the icon is a must for any collection I believe.....should have probably bought one instead of another Heuer last night!!

I just don't understand this obsession with the Speedmaster. It is an incredibly tedious design, IMO. Omega have flogged the moonwatch thing to death, in the same way the English hang on to the 1966 World Cup win. Time to let it go and move on! They have also issued endless so-called special editions, some of which are horrendous.

I pulled the trigger on a Baltic watch. They recently launched on kickstarter and their chronograph is really, really nice.

If I was going for a microbrand chrono right now, I'd get this one (Eddy Tse's 38mm ED63 for $230)

I鈥檓 talking vintage rather than a recent/new one. I agree it is a shame they鈥檝e felt the need to constantly make variations, but the original style/design is iconic in my eyes.

On the World Cup......we鈥檝e got to grip on to something considering we invented it yet can鈥檛 beat anyone at it 馃槣

I have just one, not a modern one, but to me the constant re-invention looks like comparing Heuer of Jack's time with Heuer Techniques d'Avantgard. Different make.

Can't we? Oh. Sorry don't follow it.

I follow something we didn't invent but can beat everyone. Remembering that "Mercedes" F1 cars and their engines are now both designed and built in Northamptonshire. Disclaimer: I was born in that county, so, well, you know <pride>.

I thought that way too. I am a Carrera fan and owner for close to 48 years so I thought the Speedy too big, too complicated. Until I tried one on.

Mine is the runt of the litter, not highly regarded by the fashion judges, but it does its job as well as a Jack Heuer Carrera IMO. What looks like too much complication on the dial just disappears on the wrist.

You don't know until you try one on. I don't care if this is not fashionable or expensive, I like it!

Those last 3 words are the most important and only thing that matter when buying a watch. Everybody else's opinions, thoughts, blogs, etc are meaningless compared to whether you actually like the piece or not. It never ceases to amaze me how many people on forums seem to miss this point.

It would seem then that I do just not like the Speedmaster, which is fair enough.

Whenever I see a Speedmaster just like @MRC 鈥榮 it makes me smile. I personally have always loved the design, and for me it鈥檚 like any garage fleet you should have one Aston Martin in it (modern included). The Speedy is just that for me, maybe because it has such recognition and like a Submariner a bit of an icon for me....plus they are great value.

Hereford Evening News Rally 1973. Although the Speedy is from about 1993 and I was wearing my Carrera that night.
