Just researching the Grand Carrera and I'm astonished to find that there were 26 new GCs in the 2008 catalogue and another 13 were featured in the price list as 'coming this year'. Okay so some pieces were featured with a bracelet and a strap, but even so - that seems like one hell of a launch to me!

You're right, that is astonishing!

I suppose the juxtaposition of that launch is that the GC basically fell flat on its face.

Hmm... it doesn't help that it doesn't photograph well at all. The chronographs all look boos-eyes in pictures but on the wrist they are very nice.

I have to agree, some legit Grand Carreras seem to look fakes or replicas on certain angles. One of the reasons why I stayed away from them. They don’t seem to hold value over time also.

And as JC Biver said, the Carrera is already the flagship model of TAG Heuer model, so there shouldn’t be a Grand Carrera.

Actually, it was launched in 2008 and the last catalogue it was in was the 2015 one, so it didn't do that badly.

Also, I notice that the watches are not called 'Grand Carreras' they are distinctly called 'TAG Heuer Grand Carreras'.

Except that he also wanted to bring back the GC at one point.

Yup I read that in a few posts also. Interesting what would be the development on these. The Carrera, Monaco and Autavia banks on their long history and heritage. People gravitate to these 3 because of their unique appeal and “longevity”. The Formula 1, Aquaracer & Link have also stood the test of time 👍
I’m not sure what the Grand Carrera will have. Probably best to give it a new name IMHO.

I think they were going to bring it back with the vibrating movement that ended up going to Zenith

Yup it should have a new movement to give it some TAG Heuer “Edge” 😉

I wonder when the CH03 / ZO342 will grace TAG Heuer product line-up soon? But with this movement, it will need to be a skeleton dial? 😲

I think that whole idea has blown over, I don't expect to see that movement in a TAG now - I could be wrong though.
