Those simple silver dial Carrera’s don’t tick any boxes for me…until you see them and there’s just something special about that crisp clean design.

Certainly the better of the two for me in the above comparison.

Looked again and, whilst I can see the attraction of the Monaco, I still prefer that Carrera.

But for the modern McQueen (left hand crown) just about wins against the Carrera.

Agree. Titan Monaco is very nice too.

I just didn’t get the Monaco, when first properly looking at watches of this magnitude, but it has really grown on me over the past 18 months.

 

I'm 37, got mine last year, but had wanted a Monaco for 15+ years.

 

You may have missed @Aquagraph's meaning, that Monaco 24 Gulf is a fake.

 

My apologies, I thought it was such obvious puke disaster of watch that it would be obvious to all.

 

I was trying to be polite, so as not to cause any offence, but clearly missed the point. I knew I hadn’t seen that one before, but was unsure whether it could have been a version before my time.

EDIT: So glad I was honest about preferring the Carrera though.

Before I knew anything about watches I saw and tried one on in Bicester village (it was about £7500, maybe 10 years ago). The salesman told me the date was the hours for the chronograph... the staff in those days was pretty bad.
