Wuut? I don't know anything about pre 1986.... please enlighten me. I thought it was just rare. Are you telling me you are all lusting after a unicorn?
I might be wrong and Steve might know more about this but it’s my understanding the watch was never in any catalogue or other official documentation. Originally believed to be a franken until more and more surfaced. Most are made from parts. I don’t believe there’s a single story of anyone having bought one from a store. Jack Heuer confirmed it at one point. All that mystery obviously added to the attraction.
Not really that different from some of the special LEs that TAG put out in recent years. Take the Ronnie Peterson Carrera re-issue for example, never appeared in a catalog and only 40 (stainless steel) sold in Sweden a few years ago. The only difference is now days it's easy to confirm such things on the internet, back in the '70s that wasn't the case.
Congrats @Hubert! I was wondering if you're were going to move forward with the purchase, since it doesn't seem to be a LE after all. But as I mentioned before, it is still a nice watch.
I doubt they will sell a ton anyhow so it will probably be a nice collectable piece to own in the future either way Oh and Congrats Hubert!!!!
Congrats @Hubert !! It’s really nice… and it would look even better on a black rally strap like the vintage Dark Lord in the Museum
Great photos I wonder, is this the dressiest bling Monaco to date. Perhaps the 2019 red lady and the older solid gold version were as dressy.
This dark Monaco would look great with the black leather rally style strap which came with the Monza 40th Anniversary
