The new Aquaracer is growing on me, but... the more I look at it the more I detest that round cyclops. 馃ぎ

I'd be heavily considering some of them but that cyclops truly ruins the watch for me, just can't not focus on it anytime I see a photo of one

I don't think it's going to get better. The 40mm without the cyclops will be better, but too small... 馃

I wonder if this looks better in the metal?

I agree, everytime I see that cyclops and date at 6, it ruins the watch for me. Based on the photos online, I will definitely buy a black bay not an aquaracer next

I think it could work, the hexagonal design of that *cough*otherfamouslydesignedwatch*cough* actually makes it wear larger than you expect. Though it could have been the integrated bracelet... but I tried on a friend's 41mm 15500ST last year and it felt shockingly huge.

I will say that I do intend to find out, once I've completed my second shot + the 2 weeks of antibody development. I also need to go see the new Black Bays too.

Price level is insane

Well I mean, it's titanium. But yeah given that it's a cheapo SW200 inside...

Why are all Titanium TAGs 拢1000 more than the steel ones.... my Calibre 16 Carrera had a list price near 拢4500, which is insane! My mate had a titanium Seiko that cost 拢200 so it's obviously nothing to do with the material.

I鈥檓 fairly sure my titanium night diver rrp was about 拢400 more than the equivalent steel one

Probably why they're still available. That and the confused design.
And the fact they did a vintage diver tribute for vintage fans... in 43mm

Yes, that's what I mean about confused design. It's an OK looking watch, but is it for fans of the vintage piece? With faux lume and the red numbers on the dial. But on the other hand, they haven't tried that hard to make it look like a Monin - it's basically just one of the new Aquaracers in 43mm aside from those two details.

they could have at least no-date鈥檇 or, or even no-cyclops鈥檇 it

There are different grades of titanium. Some are easier to work with than others so there will be real cost differences.

Then there is the perception that titanium is 'better' so you get the marketing cost difference.

Oh there is a HUGE difference when it comes to material. I've dealt with steel, aluminum and titanium, on the manufacturing side. I've also dealt with steel and titanium as far as refurbishing watches. I can tell you right now, that seiko and tag heuer titanium are not even in the same ball park. Seiko also tends to have hollow titanium links. But when it comes to actually working on that titanium, it's night and day between brands. Is it worth an extra $1000 on top of steel? I don't know. Depends on the watch and the manufacturing processes that had to go into it. I mean hell, tag heuer isn't worth how much they charge in the first place. But that's another matter entirely. Up charge for titanium can indeed be justified tho, but of course it will be upcharged to the same degree that tag heuer is already upcharged. I mean, look how much we are paying for a movement so cheap, that even counterfeiters are using them in their fake watches.

In their defense, the 844 was date-only. No cyclops would have been excellent though, and I might have gone for it were that the case!

Yeah, but you can console yourself with your original!
