Unfortunately I detest NATO straps so that's not gonna work for me. Almost certainly rubber is the answer, I'm guess the perforated one the carbon/yellow F1 comes on - or an Isofrane.

This is what came with my Squale and it's great - I think it's made by Benetto Cintuirini (and I would certainly check their straps out also for premium Italian rubber straps if you don't like this one).

Unfortunately it only comes in 20mm or 22mm. I think your watch is 21mm lugs?

OK, if you don't like NATOs, I would also suggest a nice thick fabric strap or sail cloth strap, in charcoal with some kind of orange highlight. Something that is more in keeping with the OEM look of the watch.

^That'll do very nicely. 👍
But it's a shame the OEM strap isn't comfortable for you. 🙁

Yes, I'm going to keep trying.... I'm concerned that every time I see an aftermarket strap on a watch it just doesn't look right around the lugs. Like it's too thin and you can see too much of the case. The review pics for this strap didn't do much to allay my fears either.... might have to be a FT8024 after all.

Rob, is the original strap a plastic/nylon construct? I had one on the 973 and it is made of recycled ocean plastic etc and it’s very uncomfortable - like you describe above. No amount of bending or getting it worn in (like a leather) helped either.

Not sure what it's made of but it's certainly not 'soft' like a NATO type strap...

Why are the loops so ridiculously big though?

If it's not a stupid question - how dark is the orange? I'm trying to work out if it's going to go, but this is hard because the watch looks darker in pics than it is. Maybe I just need to get one and send it back if it's no good.

I couldn't say. My strap has the red stitch.

So today is warm and it is fitting better - not moving around, already feels so much better.

I love the orange dial on this one, it is a pity about the strap though. I'm undecided about this one or one of the new F1 chronos in orange or lime green. I'm leaning more towards the three hander as I already have a 10 year old F1 quartz (CAH1112) that I never wear!
Have you tried a watch band liner that may solve your discomfort problem? I've no affiliation to this crowd (https://bandliners.com/), but it may be a solution instead of buying another strap?
