Stayed up past midnight for the first time in a long time in anticipation of DC’s post. The group shot sold the new direction for me. Nice work! And great post! I like the steel/grey and bronze/green/black ones a lot.
Also, this made me happy:
“Starting with the basics, the watch retains the same 42mm size case as the Chronograph, but with a slimmer profile. The highly polished case of the Chronograph is replaced by a combination of brushed and polished surfaces, which is a big step forward stylistically.”
You, at of all people, cannot complain about that! 😉
This is a very pleasant watch. I didn't expect the new hairspring to be incorporated in the more affordable price range so soon. Also to have a chronometer certification is a fantastic price-performance-ratio. The design is modern but at the same time incorporating so many elements of the traditional Heuer watches, e.g. font of the numerals and the central second reminiscent of the 'Bundeswehr'. For me it's 👍
It looks wrong though.... the new TAG logo is very 'modern' and looks out of place on the dial to my eyes. Plus surely a lot of potential customers will be put off by that - although yes, I get the reasoning behind it. Will people really pay that kind of money for a Calibre 5? Carbon hairspring or not. Also those numbers remind me of the cheap Breitling quartz thing with the rubber strap with the ruler on it. Can you tell I'm not convinced?
