Time to see what the new F1 season holds, with all teams launching over the next couple of weeks. 2018 Haas VF-18
I think it was the 2018 indycar that I saw pictures of that looked so smooth and neat, no fiddly/ugly aero fittings, so much better too look at.
The livery looks smart but it’s in a Matt finish which suggests it’s not the final design – i’m no expert and could be wrong of course - but be interesting to see what the RB looks like in Australia in a few weeks.
According to Jack Phillips of MotorSport magazine it is a "pre-season" livery, so it's expected to change. Perhaps it is a disruptive pattern so the actual details of wings etc are hard for the opposition to see? https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/opinion/f1/red-bull-reveals-2018-rb14 Also interesting is Mark Hughes' description of the reasons for Red Bull's early season performance problems last year. https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/opinion/f1/red-bull-rb14-calculated-departure Didja know that most of the classic JPS Lotuses were not black and gold? The gold was not used for long -- it did not show up well on television so was replaced with yellow.
That Renault's a bit dull. Like the RB and especially the Alfa. Always liked the Williams Martini livery too.
It was matt finish last season (it's more aerodynamic apparently), ten to one the 2018 paint job will be pretty much the same as the 2017 one.
That's right, Horner said 'this isn't the race livery but the race livery will be pretty exciting'... and it looked pretty much like the one the year before, and the one the year before that, and the one the year before that. The halo on the Red Bull looks awful from head on.
That Sauber looks really good. I prefer the Reanault liveries with more yellow than black. The Halo looks bad from all angles. This is what I think about now when looking at those cars:
