I just recently purchased on and was wondering if these are limited, or if all Indy 500s are limited. There is an inscription on the back that says 052/500.

It means yours is number 52 out of 500; usually the Indy 500 are all limited edition.
There was a Carrera last year as well.

It varies, as you pointed out before and according to the official page this year's is limited to 500:

• alternate finishing steel screw-down case back with with INDY 500 Logo special engraving, limited numbered XXX/500

It seems like there is a story/meaning behind each indy500. Do you know what this model is commemorating? Or where I can get the information?

This one and the Carrera counterpart commemorate the 101th running of the Indianapolis 500 race.
