    Hey all...

New member here. I recently found my old 1000 series in a box in the garage and started doing some research on it. I noticed that most photos of the 1000 actually have "1000" on the dial. Mine does not.

Is there any reason why some have it and others do not? Thanks!

    Cheers,
    Anthony

BTW, I also want to get a NATO strap for this. Is the bracelet 18mm? Thanks again!

Hi Anthony, no, I wouldn't say that most have 1000 on the dial...most don't..but some do! No real reason behind it- TAG Heuer changed the design slightly over time, firstly changing "Heuer" to "TAG Heuer" and then adding "1000", before taking it away again.

What's the reference number on your watch? The 1000 came in several different case sizes.

The reference number is 980.0208. I got it back in late '94 I believe. I might still have the box and papers somewhere as well.

It's not currently running (most likely the battery is dead) but I suspect it could use a good service as well.

    :)

Not sure on that ref number- would you mind checking again? You've got one extra digit at the end. Should be something like 980.014

David: it's a B instead of an eight, which is correct for this model 980.020 Twotone 1000, other options is a D or N.
Sometimes you also see an L, but that's more on the Heuer versions.
Anthony: an 18mm NATO band will fit.

Yes, it's a "B". I had to take a photo then zoom in to notice :)

    Thanks for the size confirmation!
