·I'm interested to hear where you all buy used watches from, I've looked on eBay and generally they seem about 10-25% overpriced.

·I bought my everyday F1 from Fine Time watches. He sells on eBay but he also sells on his own site cheaper (about £50 cheaper in this case, which is about the fees he would have paid on eBay), the other place I would buy from would be Watchfinder, I probably wouldn't spend more than £1000 on eBay I'd rather have someone check it over for me first.

·Research is key; there's no single place to buy preowned timepieces.
I usually thoroughly browse eBay, Chrono24, and classifieds on watchuseek (and here).
When I see a nice watch on ebay deemed overpriced, I just add it to the watchlist.
Even if takes months, and it is not unsold, the seller will eventually come to reason and accept a best offer.
Not always the case, but it sometimes work.

·What elbeik says. I have bought from eBay and Watchfinder, plus found one on Chrono24 (but then contacted vendor direct through their own website), but mostly from private ads on Watchuseek.com. Use watchrecon.com to browse ads from lots of similar forums or to set up alerts for specific watches.

·The key is to go to someone you trust or others trust I guess, so many fakes out there and nowadays they are getting too good.

Not only when it comes to fakes, but namely when assessing the condition of a watch.
Like new is often used to describe a watch, where in fact it has been used and abused.
Phone photos, with enough blur to hide scratches, or overexposure can camouflage the condition of a watch.
Worn a couple of times and the leather band looks like it has been chewed by a crocodile.
It's always best to start with accredited sellers, or people that portray a minimum level of trust as you engage in negotiation with.
