Where are the Link Caliber 5 watches?

Hello all!

So in my normal internet watch stalking I can hooky the Link Caliber 5. The ones released in 2017. Only comes in white, black, or blue dial. Now I never cared for the older Links...bracelet looks to chunky and almost child like to me. But the way they refined the bracelet for this update is gorgeous! I never gave the Link a second thought, now I am a bit obsessing over this caliber 5.

But...there is like nothing in the internet about them! A few you tube reviews and all of the forums I’m on I never see them posted (such as “what are you wearing” or showing collection pics).

So why do you guys think this model doesn’t get the love? I personally like it and may very well get one. I am not one to buy what the internet tells me....I buy for me and what I like.

I've tried it once and really liked it! The only downside is that I wished that it could have been a bit smaller, somewhere between 38-40mm had been a no brainer for me!

Here's a picture I took at that occasion . I have a bit thinner wrists, but the watch looks way too big in its current form.

How comfortable was the bracelet?

size wise the 41 is great for me. I have big wrists. My Carrera 43 fits perfect as well as my Autavia isograph at 42. I also wear a Ball fireman and Rolex air king both at 40 and for me I wouldn’t go any smaller than a 40. Tried on an OP 39 before I purchased the Air King and it was almost too small for me.

I find the new Link slightly camp. 😁 That bracelet is a little too 'Vegas' for my liking...

To me, they're an evolution of the 1980s style Tag watches. The link bracelet is distinctive but a little dated imo. Who knows, though, maybe it'll be tomorrow's "vintage".

This took place probably around a year ago or something similar, so my memory could be a bit off, but I remember the bracelet as quite comfortable, yet not as high quality as the bracelet of my Autavia Heritage (which of course cost substantially more than the Link).

I stopped by my AD this morning while out and about. They had a Link Caliber 17 Chronograph. While I am not looking for a chronograph (nothing will replace my Carerra 16 DD) I did get to put this one on and examine the bracelet. I love it. Such a great looking piece l...the cushion case is subtle yet there and the bracelet really make the watch. And wow...so comfortable. My ball foreman followed by my air king oyster bracelet are number one and two in comfort in my collection...initial feeling is the link blows them both away. But still want to see and try on the caliber 5 link. So they are bringing me one in to try this week. I keep saying to myself “I don’t need another watch. I don’t need another watch. I don’t need another watch”. But....lol. I did tell my AD that I only want to SEE IT. I’M NOT GOING TO BUY IT. he had known me a long time and just laughed and said “Sure. You will just look at it”. We will see how it goes!

One always need another watch. Hope you like the Calibre 5 version when you get to try it! I really liked it, albeit the size issue as I previously wrote.

I'm a big fan of the new Link- it's a great looking watch, perfect size, looks very different to any other TAG Heuer model (which wasn't true in the past) and is great value. So why don't we see more of them?
- The case finishing would be far better if it was a combination of brushed and polished surfaces. The "all polished" look is too bling for me, but that comes down to personal taste
- TAG Heuer focus on promoting Monaco/ Carrera/ F1...but very little push for the Link. I'm sure that with more of a push it would carve out a strong position in the range

This is a good point, unlike every other model in the range they don't push it, they don't make limited editions or do anything with it reallly. The Link used to be the 'Senna' watch but that seems to have been moved to the Carreras and F1s now.

I agree on TAG promoting this...if they did I think it would have a great following. I accidentally stumbled upon the 2017 Calibre 5. I never cared for the older fully brushed Link watches. This one is up my alley. If I would have seen this earlier I likely would have had it a while ago. But when you go to TAG’s website it is not on the highlight reel and you have to search for it directly.

As much as i prefer 3 hander compare to chronograph, i must say personally i find the current Link chronograph is the better among the two.

Yes, even putting the Link bracelet on some of the Senna F1 and Carrera editions!

Those Link pics do look nice though... I think the price of the Cal 16 scared me off as much as anything.

Yes, I like these Senna Special Edition combos with the Link bracelet, because it’s a way to give an exclusive and specific “Senna touch” to these F1 and Carrera... I love my F1 Senna Chronograph 2016! 🥰
