Finally got the FC1042 which completes the package nicely and gives a more authentic look. Well, not the watch nor pinbuckle is actually made by Heuer but you get my point. Thank you to this wonderful forum of ours for giving me the tip to buy this. I will probably get at least one more since it is so cheap, to avoid having to change it on my favorite straps.

Well worth the wait! It's these little details that matter!

Neo vintage Formula1 chronograph.
Just do battery and strap change.

Very cool 1st generation, it came on a bracelet?

Fresh out of the box...
Very nice, but are those gaps between the watch and the bracelet end links normal?

Dependent on wrist diameter?

It's a bit loose, admittedly. The top one isn't as bad as the bottom one. I think I just need to bend the end link back on the reverse... but yeah, technically it is 'normal' on a 2000 of this age.

My 1000 was similar, just a little brutal force to bend it in place will fix that gap without issues

Not on mine and I’m stretching it. Due to wear probably, should be able to pinch back.

Ooh that bracelet does look a little bit stretched...

I have a similar level of droop, but these links look closer together to me... maybe it's just the photo

Probably just the factory stretch from TAG Heuers ‘90s. Watch seems hardly worn. Hasn’t bothered me so far, thanks Rob.

After owning this watch for almost 7 years, I finally put it on a bracelet. Couldn't resist giving my Speedy FOIS the Ed White flat-link look. However, I needed 3rd party end links to make the Omega 321 bracelet fit - just in time for #SpeedyTuesday! 😀

Looks great. However, I've always preferred a Speedy on a leather strap for some reason.

Me too, that's why I never bothered with a bracelet until now. But I really like this look, totally changes the personality of the FOIS. So different that it's almost like getting a new watch to me.

Yes, always good to mix things up. You'll enjoy putting it back on the leather when the time comes too.

I'm sure it's just a better lit photo so it shows the gap more... besides, I don't think these things were made to the same tolerances they are today. Ah, ignore me - I think my bracelet gaps are just the same as yours. You were probably pulling on it, I was just letting it fall.
