Picked this one up last week, a Carrera from the forgotten (and very important IMO) automatic chronograph age. And this is one of the first! Likely produced towards the end of 1969.

I do love those Aquagraphs 👍
Thanks mate.
I bought one new in 2004 & foolishly sold it not long after. My ex wife suggested selling a watch as we had a new baby etc, so I sold the Aquagraph & kept the Link, but in hindsight I should've sold the Link. Over the years I've longed for the Aquagraph & last week found one online in Melbourne & I couldn't resist buying it.

I am planning on purchasing my first Tag Heuer Monaco watch the 2015 edition. Does it make a difference if I purchase it from Macys or a website like Prestige time shop. Macys has it for about $5300 after tax as oppose to the website that has it on sale for $4000 after tax. Big difference in price. Both offer 2 year warranty I believe. Any suggestions would be really helpful.

If Macys is an AD, then you are getting the International TAG Heuer Warranty. I'm guessing Prestige Time Shop is a GM dealer which means you will get a 3rd party warranty and TAG Heuer will not touch it if there are issues. General experience, from the internet, of 3rd party warranties is that they are not worth the pixels on the screen.

Your choice.

Macys is a department store and is a authorized Tag Heuer dealer here in San Francisco so yes they offer the 2 year international Tag warranty so I'm guessing I should pay the extra $1300 and purchase from them instead of an Online store which you said offers a 3rd party warranty.

If I was spending north of $5k on a watch, I would be buying from an AD. Don't pay full RRP though. You will be able to negotiate a discount so the difference between the AD and the GM price will be less than $1300. Try offering them 20% below and see how they react and what their counter-offer is.

So the original retail price is $5900 and they are having a 15% sale which brings it down to around $5100. I didn't or don't think you could negotiate with department stores..

If it is already on sale, I guess you might struggle to get any more off the price, but no harm in asking politely.
