I was disappointed on the 50th Anniversary Speedmaster. The astronaut figure on the subdial ruins it for me.
I was a little disappointed too. I find the 5 Tokyo Olympic Speedy's far more interesting. Hmmm, 5 Speedmasters, 5 Monacos, I wonder who came up with the idea first? Or just coincidence perhaps? 😉
Now this is more like it! Shame it's Platinum, which will be priced accordingly. But I like this look much better.

It's going to be super expensive for sure. I'm not a fan of the moon meteorite in the sub-dials. Would be more appealing (& attainable) to me if the 321 movement is used in a stainless steel Speedy.
I've been kinda disappointed with most of the recent commemorative speedys, although that platinum one looks good...
I think my issue is with the original, it is such a classic design it is very hard to improve. If the original was like a tag 2000, with room to evolve and innovate into (IMHO) the best looking modern dive watch, omega would have some chance of improving, but because the original speedy is so beautifully proportioned, nicely detailed with the simplicity of a classic watch, every new speedy detracts a little.
Reminds me, I must buy one 😀

Very cool and a well deserved rest from the Mercedes themed stuff 😉
next weekend, for the German GP, I will wear again the AMG/Hamilton face to push them
