That face really suits the watch. They should make a ‘real’ one. Better looking than many of the derivative 43/45mm Carreras.

They did. It's called the Monza.

I have to say that the WatchMaker app really annoys me 🙁. I don't think Connected owners should be able to have faces of real TAG Heuer watches. Make their own, sure, which would probably end up looking like most of the Bamford eyesores, but not the real deals.

I Have to respectfully disagree on that one. If i were running TH then I'd be seeing these watch faces as a way to potentially hook people who maybe dont wear a normal watch into the idea of a real monza.

I think it (and if I understand it, they do interchangeable mechanical modules too?) is actually quite a shrewd move to promote the core watch products to a new market segment.

So let me get this straight. The “Monza face” is based on a real watch called the “Monza”? FMS, my mind’s been blown! This horloogy thing keeps getting more and more complicated. 😁

I don’t feel that someone’s ability to put faces of real watches onto a smart watch in any way diminishes the real thing. Just an opinion of course as any other. They’ve oaid for it so should be able to do what they want.

Personally I’ve no interest in smart watches. I’d certainly not pay 1000s for something that will be next toniselwss in a few years.

The potential is even more powerful than that. By placing random faces on a smart watch and distributing photos of such onto social media TH have a ready made ‘field study’ into the types of faces people like.

In all seriousness I knew it was a Monza, but my point was that a ‘round’ face with a similar look was appealing. If they had some sort of ‘mashup’ social media thing where people uploaded faces then they can guage interest. If people like the ‘virtual’ face then chances are they’ll like it on the real thing should TH dare to make it.

If nothing else it is a bit of fun. And where’s the harm in that? 😜

Yes, there are -at the moment- three different interchangeable mechanical modules for the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 (Tourbillon 02T, Calibre 5, and Calibre 16). I bought the Chrono Calibre 16 for mine. I love this modular concept because you can completely change the look of the watch (straps, lugs, buckles, mechanical modules, watch faces...) in few seconds!

... and I love the WatchMaker app too, because I can enjoy many real TAG Heuer faces (some of them from watches I can’t afford, like the new 02T Senna LE) in my TAG Heuer Connected, and in fact this was one of the reasons because I bought this watch from TAG Heuer. So also TAG Heuer should be thankful to that app and to all the watchmakers who are sharing their work, because TH is selling more watches because of this.

I agree with you that having this real TH faces in the Connected, you are more looking forward to buying the real watch.

I’m sure Mr.Orange would think different about the WatchMaker app if he was a TH Connected owner 😀

Marketing genius really. Sell someone a £1500+ smartwatch. Then sell them another £1500+ watch to reuse with their £50 rubber strap.

Fair play to TH, the price might be steep, but they certainly have produced at least the best looking (and likely best made) smart watch on the market. I say ‘at least’ as in terms of raw technical functionality the tech company offerings are far surpassing it now. But don’t think it os the purpose of this watch to be the best smartwatch. More the best watch, that also pretty smart.

How soon before we a ‘reverso’ type smart/mechanical hybrid I wonder?

I must admit, that I sometimes also use the watchmaker Heuer faces, but:
- The clear conscience comes definitely with the 'in house' faces.
- A mechanical watch looks and feels so much better in the end, due to the effect of light on the materials, the movement, the Integration with the case, the Story behind it, etc.

All in all the watchmaker faces a really just teasers for the real thing.

You're welcome 😁
But it's a pity, because then the WatchMaker app will keep getting you annoyed 😉
I’m not annoyed at all to have around 150 real TH faces inside my TH Connected thanks to that app, in addition to the “in house” real TH faces the watch has already installed from the factory, like this one

Yes, but the clever Modular concept avoids this problem: you can easily change the smartwatch module for a mechanical module “Connected to Eternity” when its hardware is obsolete, and total price of the Connected watch + the mechanical module, is very similar to the price of the “only” mechanical Calibre 5/Calibre 16/02T watch.

Indeed that’s precisely why. I might as well jump straight into the me hanical, have a standard strap connection and have a wider choice of real faces. It is not for me, but as smartwatches go I think they’ve done a good job. I just have no need for smart module.
