Just for fun, what would you consider to be the Heuer of Heuer's for your personal collection? While I do not personally own a TAG yet I have many that I want, but, none compare to the circa 1950's Heuer Dato Compax Triple Calendar w/ Moonphase [see attached photo]. This piece to me is everything vintage watches should be. Simple, well balance and elegant. It speaks to me on many levels and is just so aesthetically pleasing that if I had it I would never be able to stop staring at it. List your's below! -AeonOfAwareness
Great question! Probably this one for me: If there was one watch that I had owned, sold...and now would buy again, then it would be this one:
I'm really a Carrera kind of person. The CH80 would have been a perfect companion. While I am not sure I could sport a gold watch, there's something mystic about this 1887.
For me it would be an OG Heuer McQueen Monaco, a Heuer "Rindt" Autavia, a "Compressor" Autavia, a Siffert Autavia, and an OG Carrera.
Glad to see all of the responses on here!! If anyone is ever willing to part with a TAG please contact me!!
A McQueen Monaco, even the last re-edition CAW211p could do... But the original Calibre 11 is a piece of history!
Need to see one in the metal first, also kinda curious if they release another using that movement, I'd prefer it more skeleton like a cross between the 01 and the 02.
I agree! I am very intrigued on the 02T but I really want to see one and hold it, also the 01 when I held it was beautiful but it was too big for my wrist and dwarfed my hand down so based on that I would not be considering the 02T a grail piece given the size...
I got to handle an 02T the other day. It really is lovely and doesn't wear as big as the 45mm size would suggest, which is odd because the 01 does, IMO.
I reckon this 1887 would look even better with a nice brown alligator strap to provide some relief from the grey.
Sorry for the very, yet hopefully fashionably late response. I am glad to see the SIlverstone in here! I am oddly fascinated by this timepiece and hope to own one someday. As for the Autavia what are your thoughts for the new model? Do you like that they went with a bigger case design or are you like me and wish that they kept it more in line with the original?
The Silverstone is lovely- especially on a bracelet. The values of these haven't moved that much over the past few years, so they're still pretty good value in my book. I prefer the Autavia in a 39mm...but TAG Heuer has been clear that they will not make a straight copy of the old Autavia, so I guess it was either get used to a larger size, or there would have been no new Autavia at all!
For those interested in the Silverstone re-edition and how it compares to the original; see this: http://www.calibre11.com/heuer-tag-heuer-silverstone/
There's far too many it's hard to just pick one. I love the Autavia line (just about every watch in the collection) and I can't wait for the new one coming out this year. I'd also love to own a Heuer Monaco. That'd be something special.
