    Gentlemen,

I recently repo'ed a Monza Calibre 36 from my wife, and enjoying rotating it with a Carrera day-date Calibre 16.
Now, the Carrera is not a champion when it comes to power reserve, and this got me thinking, what if I got myself a watch winder?

Up the intertubes to have a look on the market for winders. Well, good ones will put your wrist budget at risk. Wolf came by as good value for money, and funky Swiss made Kubik appears to have previously private labeled some models for TH.

Now research has shown if you spend too much time on the internets, you will end up buying things you have for long lived without.

I still haven't figured out if a winder is worthwhile; maybe I should disconnect my modem.

What about you gentlemen? Do you have a gym for your favorite watches?

No, can't see the point. I just let them stop and reset them when I come to wear them. Also, I probably wouldn't spend a lot of money on one, and end up with one that kept me awake at night. Plus, I like my watches to be accurate to within a minute at least, and so I'd still have to reset the time after it had been in the winder for a few days.

I have all my TH automatics in winders. What I've learned is that they all will need to be readjusted every month or so, if you want to keep them accurate. I've read arguments for keeping them running in order to maintain the gears evenly oiled, which is why I invested in the winders. However, there are probably counter arguments in favor of storing them, in order to retain the elasticity of some of the components. Maybe some mechanical experts can comment.

I've never used one to be honest and have never really seen the need- I don't really use the date function on my watch, so doesn't worry me when it's wrong.

I have read some articles claiming more/ less wear- but I can't see that it would make any practical difference over the life of the watch whichever way you go

In my head, as long as I wind and wear each watch at least occasionally, that should be sufficient to keep the oils moving around. My movements will be getting slightly less wear when they're stopped, but my crowns will be getting slightly more due to more frequent readjustment. Swings and roundabouts :)

Plus, with modern oils they are not going to coagulate as quickly

Those have a dual purpose. They double as display cases. Nice pairings btw.

Nice watch winder! My favourite brand is Kunstwinder. I think they have the most beautiful winders in the market, very different from the "box" design that most brands tend to build. I have one at home, and everyone makes a comment when they see it. A video:

I think for that sort of money, I'd rather spend it on a watch and wind manually.

That is precisely what I thought when I went off to check out the web site.
