Heuer Autavia 7763?

Poor guy, he was treated pretty ruff.
It was in a bag along with other cheap watches handed to me by a family member whose intention was to trash them.
I am unable to figure out the model number.

Look good for a 7763 to me. The reference will be between the lugs at the bottom of the dial and the serial number between the lugs at the top. The serial is partly visible in your photos but the reference is obscured by a reflection.

Service the movement, polish the crystal and you have a great find there!

Holy cow! How does one find somebody willing to trash an Autavia??? Can I become friends with them?

Think of all the hundreds of watches like this that have ended up in landfill, the owners blissfully unaware of what they were throwing away...

Back when these would have first required a major service, in the late 1970s, you could buy a then-revolutionary and far more accurate quartz digital watch for around the same amount you'd have spent getting a mechanical chronograph serviced. So instead of throwing money at a watch that could never be as accurate as a quartz, these mostly went into drawers. Some were also thrown out.... and outside of our small hobby, the people who originally junked these watches still consider them old broken junk.

The guy I bought my Carrera 2447 from said his uncle (the original owner) also owned another vintage Heuer. When his Dad inherited them both, he threw the other one away as 'it didn't have a strap'........::facepalm1::

It's MacGyver time in Lisbon! While I wait for a strap, I've built this *luxurious* protection made from the *finest* bicycle wheel rim inner tube.

That's really extreme 😲 Most people just tossed them in a junk drawer!

Beautiful condition...looks untouched!
Thanks, it is in new condition. I always thought nobody likes Camaro, but this thread surprised me. There are so many beautiful photos of them here.

Love the Camaro...I’d pick a Camaro ahead of the equivalent Carrera every time.

This thread is great! I always liked the brand TAG Heuer but I wasn't aware of its history or its vintage models. I found them here, and I love the Camaro.
