Trying to identify a TAG...

Several years ago my wife and I visited either the Bicester or Cheshire Oaks TAG boutique (not entirely sure, but tending towards Bicester) and there was a watch there that my wife has never forgotten. We're pretty sure it was an Aquaracer, but it had a dark grey face with writing on it. To be honest she thinks it said TAG Heuer on the face, whereas I'm pretty sure it had names of cities.... when I say writing, I mean quite a bit of text. Does anyone have the foggiest idea what it might have been?

Comes to mind the USA team edition?

No it's not that one, it's so frustrating... I thought about trying to sketch, but I can't remember enough detail. Grrrrrrrrr!
It definitely had a dark grey face and the text on the background was lighter grey. The text was concentrated on the left hand side I think... and reminded me of my bosses Rolex (which says 'Rolex' all over the watchface in small text). I'm pretty sure the text said names of major cities, but my wife thinks it said 'TAG Heuer'
I would assume it was a fake if it hadn't been in the TAG shop!

Well done! Although of course, it's not really how I remember it... but it MUST be that one. Thanks, at least now we know we weren't imagining it! 😀

That one's nice too. Wife has confirmed it was the darker one. There's been a couple on eBay selling for $2-3000. Kicking ourselves now... numbered 400 copies.
🙁
Bah!

Lots of other nice aquaracers out there, see my comments on the limited edition thread, but there were a lot of limited editions in the tag outlet in york when I was last in there. I was kinda tempted with the aquaracer with the 'divers below' flag.

Unless you are completely in love with this one, I'd look at a different one, $2-3000 will buy you a lot of new aquaracer. Theres an article about this years range here http://www.calibre11.com/in-depth-review-aquaracer-300m-ceramic-bezel-calibre-5/ I tried on the new 3-hand 300m watch a few months back and it looked very smart, or you might save a lot (up to 50%) by buying a previous model.

I certainly wouldn't drop $2-3000 on one, just kicking ourselves because it was probably less than £1000 when we saw it. A few years ago though... didn't realise it was a limited edition. I'm a lot more clued up these days. 😀

Last time I was in Cheshre Oaks there was a Black Automatic Aquaracer (mens) dropped from £4200 to £1800. Probably should have bought that one as well.

Impulse buy, but totally worth it 😀 I went in looking for a new battery for my other aquaracer.

Sounds like something I would do. Well almost...
