Really good read Rob, gonna ask the local library to get that book in now, I pop into another watch forum that is Rolex heavy, they all bitch about prices and unavailability, but they’re almost all on a list looking for, or announcing the latest purchase. Market forces, you price your goods at what the market will stand, punters pay or do without.
Thanks Martin, it started out as a huge rant and then I rewrote it from scratch and it turned out a lot better. What you say about Rolex, exactly what I'm talking about. The point is if you have a limited product then you only need that many people willing to pay a silly price and you can charge a silly price. To me arguing over whether a watch is £5k or £8k is moot, it just depends on how many people are willing to pay that price.
That’s how I priced cars on the forecourt, as much as I thought I could get, I could do a “ special one off deal” for the interested punter, or have managers special sale.
I think @imagwai needs a bigger watch box, remember that the more watches you have the more happiness you will feel in your soul and heart. Selling watches is never a good thing, you say it yourself that it creates regrets
One or two regrets, yes, but too many watches actually makes me feel a bit too self-indulgent if you know what I mean. Plus I don't have time to wear them all. And thanks Rob for the opportunity - was fun and I think the interview turned out well.
Also, coming soon is part 6 of the F1 history, also histories of the Alter Ego, 4000 and 6000 Series. I'm looking at March next year for the history of the Aquaracer.
I used one of the links in this thread that took me to a different article first. Then I went to Articles, then Index, but the last entry was Nov 23rd. Then I went to "Welcome", before finally going "Home" and finding it there.
Yes I need to update the index.... but just click on the header at the top and takes you to the front page.
