The penalty for polishing

On fleaBay at the moment is a Carrera 7753NS like mine. That should be a £4-5000 watch but it is sitting at £2999 with no bids. Why? It's been polished to within an inch of its life. The auction even includes the invoice for doing it, so now we know who never to take a watch to 😡

Auction here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Vinta...ef-7753-NS-Panda-Dial-Circa-1970/123029103029

There's another at https://www.ebay.com/itm/Heuer-Carrera-Reverse-Panda-7753-NS-Vintage-Rare-Watch-Excellent-Condition/232364795072 for only $23,900 -- bargain 😲 It has 58 watching, why bother?

My Instagram entry never appeared in searches, so I'll recycle it here...

The dial has also been poorly refinished. Screenshot of the eBay image for posterity as they disappear shortly after the auction ends:

Oof, shame. There's not much of it left!
I hope you're not referring to mine 😉

Hands are incorrect too - here's a photo of a proper 7753 NS for comparison:

I'm a bit suspicious about the watch in its entirety, given these issues - I'm not experienced enough to tell if the movement is real or fake, but it is a 7730 as it should be so perhaps it's OK

I would be very cautious with this one. Has anyone ever seen a black tension ring with white 1/5 second markings? The numbers in the subdials look strange, too.

The "1" is definitely wrong and the rest look a little too large with stroke width too thin. No "T" on the dial either. And shouldn't the hands in the sub-dials be the same width?

Oh, the tension ring in my "avatar" picture is black with white markings. But that is because it's a white watch that I reversed the colours for in a picture editor.

Like I said previously, this is a terrible redial / put-together watch.
