So one of the few History of posts I have left to do is the 1000 Series. Which I thought I had an idea of what a 1000 Series was... however, the 1984 catalogue tells me these are 1000 Series Chronographs. I'm like, eh?

Mind you these are all also apparently 1000 Series even though there's a Pilot, a Calculator and an Autavia....

The '84 catalogue seems to be messed up in that sense. Even the Carrera models and Monza models are shown in what's called the 1000 Chronographs section of the '84 catalogue.

My theory is the new management from Piaget, who were now running Heuer instead of Jack, decided on this weird naming convention for the Chronos, lazily grouping them under the 1000 category. If you look at the '83 catalogue, these same "1000 Chronos" were listed in what was simply called the "Chronographs" section.

I'd consider the '84 Catalogue's use of 1000 for the Chronos to be a bit of an anomaly.
