TH affected by swatch price increase?

I read somewhere swatch group brands would be increasing in price because of brexit or whatever. I didn't realize this would include TH. The lady at their boutique today said their prices would be rising starting march 1. Not sure whether to believe her or take it as a sales tactic.

For TAG, I guess they have slowly moved away from ETA since they were bought by the Swatch group some years ago. This is also the reason behind most of the "newer" TH calibres are based on Selita rather than ETA.

I haven't heard anything about TH in this specific case, but it has of course, been rather common to increase the price more or less every year. This could be the reason to why she said 1st of March, or it can just be a minor correction to make sure that all prices are similar and not depending on currency.

Not sure how Brexit can affect prices really, since nothing has changed as yet (weak pound maybe?).

Weak pound and 3% inflation has driven price increases for most goods.

I already feel they are more overpriced than other brands but I'm willing to spend on a Carrera or Aquaracer once I am able to decide. An added 5-9% bump in price might cause me to reconsider my options.

I hope it was all bullshit as I'm not ready to pull the trigger just yet. Maybe it's just the boutiques and that are raising their prices right now.

Yep, yearly price increases are the norm in the watch industry. I wouldn't expect it to be too dramatic though

I guess Brexit could be blamed for many things- but in this case there's something to it. The fall in the pound following the Brexit vote meant that for foreigners, prices of watches in the UK decline significantly..and there are plenty of tourists passing through every year. This resulted in UK watch sales surging:

So it does make sense to bring these back into line...however, if you are a UK resident earning pounds, all you'll see is a price rise, because you never got an advantage in the first place

As long as Omegas can get more expensive. Prices are too low!!

(Grey market is about the right price point I would be willing to spend on a TH. So about 30% under listed prices. Cant see how anyone could find it reasonable to pay more...)

There's a lot of Longines i could get with very reasonable price and quality

Sorry, not bashing TH here nor saying TH shouldn't be up there in price. But it just....i wish i have more TH before it went up there 😜

Exactly what DC said above.

I’m paid in a currency pegged to the dollar and with the pound at an all time low it’s like everything back home is a bargain, watches especially.

Last year at the all time low of the pound my colleague bought a Submariner for around $5500 after getting the VAT back.....an absolute bargain! The UK’s Rolex prices were significantly cheaper than European counterparts given the exchange rates and believe there was to be an adjustment this year to fix that.

Monaco CAW211P has gone up today from £4,650 to £4,750. So the lady in the boutique was correct.

Yup they have gone up indeed. From what I saw today the F1 cal5 that I was looking at went up 5.3% and the Way211c Aquaracer by 2.7% in price. I did not get to check prices for other models. Boutique and AD's all went up.

Spot on. On a waiting list for a Rolex Sub. Wait times are huge due to Europeans coming over and ordering as they getting far more sterling for their Euro.

It’s actually a global issue on the availability front. Even Dubai that normally has an abundance has been suffering of late with no steel sports Rolex’s in stock. Go back 12-18 months and my boss walked into the Rolex AD here and bought a Daytona off the shelf. 8 months later walked into Rolex AD in UK and bought Sub off the shelf.
