To mark its 160th anniversary, TAG Heuer is relaunching its iconic collection, TAG Heuer Carrera, born from a passion for motor racing. To promote the occasion, DDB Paris teamed with TAG Heuer to create a campaign featuring an endurance racing car driver behind the wheel at night, overcoming seemingly impossible challenges with mental strength, resiliency and sheer passion for action.

A prime component of the campaign is this 100-second film, “The Longest Night,” directed by Daniel Wolfe via production company Standard.

From the YouTube video:

Inspired by the world of endurance racing which gave birth to the unique TAG Heuer Carrera model, the “FOREVER CHASING TOMORROW” campaign encapsulates a truth that has become even more relevant in today’s world: no matter the challenges ahead, one is driven to build the future. Endurance racing embodies this exceptional resilient mindset that strongly resonates with the new generations: keeping the drive alive, facing adversity, never giving up.

So is that a precursor to a supposed release of some more Carreras this month? Just wondering if someone has some knowledge so I'm not robo refreshing the TAG Heuer site like a mad man.

I’ve always dreamed of a Porsche Carrera largely because of my admiration for the Heuer Carrera 🥰

But who used the term “Carrera” first? Was it Porsche or Heuer? Both taken from the grueling & deadly race won by Fangio among others. Incidentally both started life in 1963 (911 & iconic watch design) 👍👍

Yes in September they will release a line of 42mm Heuer02 Carreras. Not vintage style like the 160th, instead picture something more similar to the previous cal 1887 (for example CAR2110)

I believe Heuer was first. Since the watch was introduced in 1963, while the Porsche 911 was released in 1964.

Ironically, most people probably think the watch is named after the car. Since the car is far more famous to the average non-watch person.

Yes, @Seven Bacon the new TAG Heuer modern Carreras are supposed to drop this month. Given this campain, I would suspect the launch should be happening soon.

If I were a betting man, I'd put my chips on Jim's.

Heuer officially named their watch first, though there were racing-engine models of the 356 known as the Carrera since 1955 (the name was not appended to the 911 until 1973 with the Carrera RS / 1974 for standard production)

I wondered whether this campaign was linked to the up-coming Carreras, but I did screen shot the watch images and they are of the existing 44mm Carrera Heuer 02

Porsche was first with the 356 Carrera.

There were some stories that the reason that the 1996 Carrera re-edition doesn't have "Carrera" on the dial was because of a (potential?) IP dispute with Porsche.

Thank you for the inputs and clarification sir
DC @Calibre11 , @abrod520 , @Mspeedster !! It’s been a rhetoric question in my mind and yet still put much respect and admiration on both 😀

I agree that people generally are more aware of Porsche’s flagship sports car with the iconic 911 Carrera but I do believe this spot is filled up nicely by the TAG Heuer Carrera in the watchmaking world 👍

Carrera the sports car & Carrera the sports watch 🥰🥰
