Hi I've owned this since new - about 7 years. The battery has been changed once.
Today I grabbed it, pressed the second hand top button and it clicked one second then stopped. It won't reset and kind of shakes/vibrates but won't move. I've tried the reset trick to no avail.
Is it due to a dying battery (I hope...)?
Thanks

Is it very cold where you are? I had a very similar problem with a Kirium chrono the other day. Stick it somewhere warm for a bit and see if it helps. After half an hour in the airing cupboard my Kirium was perfect.

For $5 I’d swap the battery and start there. Worst case scenario it would need a movement swap, and the movement itself is less than $100. But I’d swap that battery and see from there.

My F1 has two batteries: one for the movement and one for the chronograph. Either battery can die independently and the other function will still work. If yours is still keeping time but the chronograph has stopped working then it’s probably the latter’s battery. Probably worth replacing them both.

Really? What year is your F1?
I changed the battery myself in my Gulf F1 (2018), it only had one battery, unless I somehow missed seeing a second one.

1999 IIRC. I’ve just noticed the OP stated his is 7 years old so perhaps later ones are different. Anyway, here’s a pic

I’ve never seen that in an ETA quartz movement. That’s very interesting. Most quartz chronographs have one battery. That’s a beautiful watch by the way. Lovely dial!

The first gen chrono had two batteries. Someone was asking me what battery they need on my blog and I had no idea

If it helps, my F1 (post above) takes 2 off SR936SW/394 batteries
