It's a good point Jim. In the previous Calibre11.com layout, I had a "Featured Articles" section that I used to highlight stpories from the past. In the most recent redesign I ditched it, because it didn't seem to generate a lot of traffic..so I assumed that people weren't going back over those old stories.

Maybe I need to do a "blast from the past" on social media to highlight an older story? Appreciate the ideas though, because I agree that the search bar isn't really for browsing...you have to know what you're looking for

How about a "Related Stories" based on keywords? 😀

Keep an eye out later today for a gentle revamp of the website...it's very much in the "clean up" category rather than being major changes. And yes, the date is added back in for all posts.

One feature I wanted to explain was the new pop-up window allowing people to join the mailing list. I thought long and hard about this, as it's not a feature that I love on websites. Here's the rationale.
- The subscriber database is an important source of traffic and under the current website design has not been growing as fast as I'd expect largely due to the website design that hides away the "Subscribe" feature
- The settings on the pop-up are variable, and I've set them to 1. Not trigger on the homepage and 2. to only trigger when the reader gets towards the bottom of an article. If I think about exchange of value between the site and a reader, I feel that presenting someone with a pop-up after they have read through +1000 words and seen ~30-40 photos at no cost is a fair ask- which of course they can close out of

I'll play around with the settings to test and trial and see how effective it is..without being annoying.

Many of the other good ideas here haven't been forgotten, but they would require a more substantial re-design and so are on the backlog for now.

Happy to look into it. I assume that the functionality that you'd want from the app is off-line access to the content?

You may already know this, but the Monochrome subscription pops up towards the end of the page. I agree that is a reasonable approach to promoting the subsciption option.

To be fair the site (at least on mobile, as that’s how I consume it) is very clean, elegant and easy to navigate. Article dates will be handy. But I can’t think of any major improvements that would make it easier or more of a pleasure to use. It is pretty close to spot on as it is. Thanks for all the effort!

I suggest video reviews. This will certainly drive more traffic and allow calibre11.com to spread across social media channels and grow the community.

Thisnis an excellent suggestion if resources and time permit. I’ve watched more YouTube since ‘getting into watches’ (which this forum helped reignite) than in all years precedding! Whilst the written articles and photos are excellent and very informative, video content can sometimes makes it easier to get a ‘Feel’ for a watch in context, prior to viaiting the AD. Agree it would also help drive fraffic and hopefully make the forum a little more lively. All the best with the updates.

Funny you should mention this again... If only we had a member who worked in this industry... 😉

Well it was a thread soliciting feedback from site users. Asking for and receiving feedback from consumers of a service is industry agnostic. Not sure what I mentioned ‘again’ tbh. Vids aplenty on other sites so no great loss if they don’t appear here. 😝

Glad you are going to make the website more navigable, I find pages on here through Google searches quite often...
