·I asked in my local dealer about getting my Carrera chrono serviced, they quoted £410 and a 6-8 week time, anyone know an reliable alternative in Scotland or UK that may do for less, cheers.

·What was included in that? Sounds very cheap to service a chrono for only 400, I would go for that option.

That's about standard for a chrono service from a manufacturer. However if your Carrera is a 7750-base, you can probably find a local watchmaker to service it. If it's a Sellita/DD modular or in-house, you're best off going thru the manufacturer. However, learn from my mistake - if you do send it to TAG, send it directly and insure it yourself; don't trust the dealer to handle it properly if it gets lost

·It's usually a quest and most people have 'their guy'. Official channels take long and are very very expensive. Everyone loves a good in house calibre right? Until it has to be serviced and sent back to Switzerland 😀
I'm surprised it's 'only' 400 and I would def go that route. However luckily there are still independent watchmakers who are in it for the love for their trade and not (just) the money. I asked around and found some great & affordable watchmakers that way.

·Spoke to AD who quoted this cost and said to drop the watch in and he’ll try demagnetising it first to see if that helps the accuracy, if not it’ll have to go on holiday to the spa.

·Dropped my watch intro the shop today and while I was form filling, assistant stuck watch on timer and confirmed it was running slow, and magnetised, my wife browsed for a birthday present in the meantime shop demagnetised watch, better but not right so left watch to be stripped from case and done again, hopefully to ok. Gonna call me when it’s complete, adjusted, and tested, fingers crossed nothing else required.
My wife didn’t see anything she liked still looking for a pressie but heyho.

·Had my watch demagnetised but still running pretty rough, I was recommended on another forum(there life away from here too) a firm Genesis Watchmaking run by a guy Duncan Potter, long story short, great job £305 plus 2 year warranty against Tag at £410 and 1 year, and back in about 3 weeks. Very happy.
