Good morning all
I am looking for a little advice please, I have a Tag watch that I have tried to check the serial number on the Tag page but cannot find it.
The watch has 2 numbers on the back, CAR201Z and WGH6133, is there a method I am unaware of whereby I can check these number are correct

Good morning Aquagraph and thank you for your response, I tried your link and the serial number is not recognized, I had hoped to confirm it authenticity

Well, if you look above I tried it too and it does seem to come up... I put the serial number in and it brought up CAR201Z so that's something. I presume the N/A is because it's out of warranty, after all this is a 'warranty checker'.

So it appears the serial number is correct for the watch, but it doesn't actually prove authenticity because fakes these days also have genuine serial numbers.

Mark,
I have a CT1111 that was bought new in 2005 and still have receipt. Tag website says the Serial Number cant be found. Is this common? SN is HD0934. Had it into Tag in the past for work and they have that record, but couldn't even validate the SN when I called.

I wouldn't be at all surprised. They probably started adding numbers when they had a website, and even if they added the older numbers they probably would have only added watches that were still under warranty. I mean, what use is it to add watches that are 5 years out of warranty to a warranty checker - remember it is not an authenticity checker, and as one it is pretty useless - it is solely intended to check if your watch is still under warranty. So let's say they had the first online warranty checker in 2015, they wouldn't add your watch to it as at that point it was 10 years old.

Add to that the requirement to add all the watch details - there's far more info than what is actually shown.

Same reason they haven't added it after the service - you'll be able to use your warranty from the service, but it hasn't been added to the record of your watch since it's not on the W.A.S.

I get the warranty site, but I entered it into the Tag main site when I made an account today and they don't recognize it either. I would have thought they would have converted old SNs to digital as well for future proof of authentication. I paid a lot of money 20 yrs ago for something I cant authenticate with the company.

You mean when you tried to add it to 'Your watches'?
Yeah I'm not surprised about that either. But think about it, TAG Heuer in it's current form (ie owned by LVMH) has been around for 25 years, and over that time they've probably made 15+ million watches (?) or thereabouts, maybe more because they used to make a lot more than they make now (they once made a 10,000 limited edition Formula 1)... can you really see them adding all those to a website, when perhaps a quarter of them may be scrapped by now? Let's not forget, it's relatively recently these websites have been with us, it seems a bit unreasonable to expect them to go back and add millions of watches that were never 'digitally' registered in the first place... and for what goal? The website can't authenticate your watch, it can only show that a watch with that part number and serial number 'exists'. There could be one of them or a hundred. Why would any watch brand spend resources doing something that achieves almost nothing and generates zero money?

Oh does this mean collectors can no longer do the warranty search? Might as well be good since it gave false comfort to fools shopping luxury goods on ebay, thinking the counterfit is legit just because it shows up in the warranty search.

Maybe, maybe not. Twice now, it has helped me decide between two identical watches, where one showed up on the warranty checker and the other didn't. Both times, I was reasonably sure all of the watches were real, but it was nice to have the history of the watches I ended up purchasing (using @Rsf's method).

Yes I agree and definitely see the value for folks like us who have some knowledge. The "hack" was awesome and I am still amazed that TAG Heuer decided to make details like personal first and last name and username of the AD rep published open on the internet for anyone to see

You're right. It isn't
Welcome!
Please help me, where can I check the registration card to see if it is original?
Thank you: Bernadette Berkes

I wonder if some bigwig at TH finally realized how much data they've been leaking and had it locked down. They probably didn't care so much when they thought all anyone could get was just whether or not there was a warranty, but now that the secret is out....

I hope the warranty checker comes back, but it'll probably be stripped down to just the bare minimum if it does.
