Seeking a watchmaker to service my Autavia GMT

Hello everyone,

It's nice that these forums are back!

I have a Heuer Autavia GMT that needs a replacement pusher (smooth) and a full service (it works when wound, but runs fast).

I'm looking for recommendations for a watchmaker who might specialize in these vintage Heuers. I'm in the west, but really anywhere in the U.S. is fine.

If sending it in to TAG Heuer directly is best please weigh in on that as well, but I think finding someone whose area of specialty includes this era of watches will be best.

Many thanks,

T.S. Warren

TAG themselves are actually doing a decent job by vintage pieces these days, may be costly but the waitlist won't be as long as Abel's and the parts are less likely to be an issue.

As long as TAG listen and take note of what you do and don't want done. I gave them explicit instructions not to polish the case and yet they did it anyway (this was in the UK, though).

That's a problem with almost every manufacture really. But I mean TAG's vintage department, who really seem to be a cut above compared to what I see happening to vintage Omegas, Breitlings, Rolexes etc

That's interesting to hear, last time i asked about getting my 844/5 serviced they weren't interested.

Yeah I’m not sure about the divers but Cal 11/12 chronos and the older stuff they seem to do a decent job with.
There is some guy who specializes in the Heuer divers though if you google around a bit - he helped me out with my 844 when I needed a new crown

it is not necessary to find a watchmacker specialized in vintage Heuer

no doubt, for example Abel is a prerfered one forthis job

it is necessary to find a watchmaker generelly for vintage watches and the movement

in this case the Valjoux 72 - there must be a lot of watchmakers, they can do the job

importent is to find the correct pusher
