S/EL Sports Elegance Strap Alternatives (rubber, canvas etc)

Recently purchased a CG1121-0 on a leather band. Love the look. BUT keen to get a strap that I can take in the water / exercise with - and leather is not it. (and I don't want the full metal bracelet either). I found ONE picture from 2012 with an aftermarket rubber strap that looks like the links bracelet, but in rubber - (see link for the exact watch, and the rubber strap)

No sign of them on Ali-Express or ebay - assume the model is too old for vendors to bother now.
Has anyone successfully modified a rubber strap (or canvas - e.g. nato??)? Was looking at buying a rubber strap and just cutting out the notches with a sharp knife.
Any experience / pictures / vendors would be much appreciated!

Wow, that rubber strap looks weird.... kinda neat idea, but personally I wouldn't be taking my 30 year old S/EL near the water. Each to his own though and I guess if it's pressure tested then why not.

I remember seeing those rubber aftermarket S/el straps back in the day. I almost bought one, but I always wear mine on leather and I figured I'd never use the rubber one. No idea where to get them now...

Senna wore his in water, guess he didn't care what might happen to the leather strap! 😲
