Looks like it was dented in the rear, might be lighting.
Those tail lights are at the same height as my Volvo suv.
Don't think I'll get used to the new 911 anytime soon. The 997 is my favourite of the last generations.

My super rare 996 GT3 Mk1 Clubsport in Biarritz White.
Two seats, fire extinguisher, full roll cage,ABS, Mezger , what more do you need?
Oh and Olaf Manthay suspension, Techart pipes,big old Alcon brakes on 6 pots, RS blue alloys with Michelin Cup2s and remap up to 384 bhp.

996.1GT3 is an epic car, and loved driving a friend of mine’s. Straight from the race car. Steering rack is brilliant and so short. Truly a race car for the road.

The day was to celebrate Porsche 70th Ann 2018, it was organized by Porsche Glasgow and was a great success

Lucky with the weather too, looks a good crowd there, when I was tempted by a cayman my wife loved it but sitting in it after the test drive her comment was “on a day like this I want to put the roof down” so the honda returned home with us, and, is still here. Not going anywhere in this snow though today, ah well, bum on couch, telly on for a days rugby now.

Hi, finally got my 911 3 years ago. Been obsessed since I was a little kid. Bizarrely despite the popular preference for the pre 1974 small bumper cars I prefer the G-body models which were current when I was learning about cars, When the time came to pull the trigger the 997 was the pragmatic choice as I thought I would be able to use it more and the price of air-cooled cars had gone crazy. I resisted the temptation to jump in and waited until the ideal spec car popped up, absolutely no regrets.

I've got the same idea, and really want one. Yours is an early 997 though; have you done the IMS bearing fix or did you find one with it already performed? That's the main issue I keep coming back to - 997.2s are hard to find as they were mainly built during the worst years of the financial recession so not as many are out there.

I went for the g model last Summer (80s kid!). Price is sort of level to the 997 but fear of high maintenance costs pushed me towards aircooled. Great network of moderately priced aircooled specialists here. 964 was another major candidate but I fell in love with a summer yellow g.

Mine's a very late Gen 1, March 2008. My understanding is that post 2006 the IMS had evolved to a different more robust spec so no real concerns. You will also see reference to RMS leaks and cylinder bore score. Although mine has never dripped on the garage floor there is evidence of a weep from the RMS but I'm told that is a function of the seals drying out through lack of use over winter - it's the usual dichotomy of balancing the need to use the thing and keeping the car away from the muck and salt in the winter, I try to take it out when the weather is clear but sometimes it's idle for 2-3 weeks. In general there is a massive amount of chat about the problems associated with the M96 & M97 engines but if you put this in the context of the expectation of a totally reliable daily use sub supercar and then compare reliability issues with rivals such as the Maserati or Jag XK in my opinion nothing comes close to the 911.

I've looked at upgrading to the Gen2 but it would be at least £10k difference to trade up and to find a manual car in a similar spec is next to impossible so I am just going to enjoy it and look after it. If I am in a position to offer buying advice it would be to get a post 2006 car and get all the evidence you can around maintenance and use, and don't be afraid of mileage, a fit well maintained car is no bad thing.

Oh I'm already all in on the 911 - my first exposure was a cousin's 930, which one does not forget - but my issue is that I live in a city, without space to work on it and without a whole lot of extra income to repair it. I just want to be able to drive it on weekends - so the 997.1 is just a bit of a question mark with the engine issues. By the time I can actually afford to pull the trigger though, we'll see if NA 991s have come down a bit.

The other option is the 997 Turbo, no IMS/RMS issues and you still get the smaller body with hydraulic steering.

Yeah, I'd love a 997 Turbo but they're not super easy to come by with manual transmissions in the US. Also, I think I may prefer a slightly lighter, more nimble Carrera S since most of the recreational driving around here (the Bay Area) is on tight, twisty mountain two-lanes.

Went to Onassis 800 in Wuppertal yesterday. Lots of (Tag) Heuer, Rolex and Speedys everywhere and a ton of Heuer livery stickers. Also some great dash timers left and right.

^I like the Heuer stopwatch mounted to the steering wheel. Noticed there's a passenger side mount as well. Cool. 👍

All you guys with your Porsche’s are making me jealous and re-evaluate my current life choices.
When I was about 10 years old, I had a goal to achieve 3 things.
1 - Marry Cheryl Ladd ( I was well into Charlie’s Angels)
2- Fly to the moon
3- own a Porsche

Sadly, I don’t think 1 or 2 are going to happen at my age, and to be honest, I don’t think I want to marry Cheryl anymore at her age ( although, I’m sure she’s aging better than me)

But number 3 is still a dream I hold
But, and it’s a big BUT, to achieve this, I would need to Kerb my watch collecting.

Those are some very nice cars you all have.
Envy only begins to describe my feeling.
