Personalisation...

Just watched a video on Armin Strom's novelties for Baselworld, and one of their things is that their customers can personalise their watches - choose different coloured parts for the watch/movement. I wonder if TAG would ever do this kind of thing?

They did, sorta...
For a while, the HH department took orders for their watches to customers spec.
Basically, if they've got it, you can have it.
Carbon case, rose gold bezel and lugs for a Mikograph?
Sure, no problem.

Except the price.
I didn't ask beyond the general "what can be done?".

I recall a couple customer runs of 50 were featured in some blogs.

Oh that's interesting, I didn't know that. I suppose it would have to be on a higher end watch. Not really feasible for a £1300 Formula One maybe... or maybe it is?

I've been pondering the possibility of customization ever since the first CARRERA HEUER-01 was released in 2015.

We currently have different models based on colors, materials, straps/bracelets, and dial designs.

The obvious next step would be to allow customers to "special-order" their watch based on their "own design".
OR
Extend the "modular" concept to the CARRERA line, to have interchangeable components (add a snap-able bezel) on mechanical watches.

The more volume you produce, the less customization you can offer.

Yes, I guess if you can choose the lugs for your Connected, then why not offer the same service for the modular Carrera? Makes good sense. As long as these were able to be securely fitted by a dealer rather than needing a specialist watchmaker.

Yes, I think most people could live with dealer-installed. Although the mutual benefit would be in having the ability to do it yourself, as this would open up the "accessorize" concept that one would expect to result in increased sales and higher customer satisfaction.

It's a topic I've been wondering about, wether I can convince tag to sell me a bezel separately to a watch.

I've never really looked too closely at the Hublot case; is it really as modular as it looks to be?
Three part, Sandwich style case with screwed on bezel?

How reliable is it ? Is it gonna be screw down again or just plug and play ?
