I've been running the Watcmaker app for a week, always on, screen always on with dimming mode. All other watch functions as previously stated in this thread. Pleased to report still around 25-26 hours. It definitely makes a difference to consumption but not drastic enough to not use it.

"It definitely makes a difference to consumption but not drastic enough to not use it" Maybe I'm missing something here but what are you referring to in this quote?

Updates after 1 week:

- Battery - after a week of draining it down to less than 10% each day - the duration went from a 10 hour day to a 16 hour day. Of course this is no wifi - but it runs bluetooth connected to phone constantly. I also unplugged it at 97% a few times and plugged it back in to get 100%. Now it seems to charge to 100% by itself. Much better performance.
- I was disappointed by its lack of maps and some other functionality with IOS so I went and bought a Samsung S7 edge this week. I have been an Apple decipal for many many years so it was a big decision to venture into Android. 2 things - it was crazy easy to transfer everything from one device to the other and Android has some very cool features that the iphone's don't. That said, the Tag just works much better with Android. I am not having any paired connectivity issues and notifications are instant.
- Physical - Rubber strap is awesome - its comfortable and takes the knocks of day to day use. The watch is thick but does not feel heavy and frankly has caused no discomfort with a full day of wearing.
- Wifi - stills drop regularly and I tend to just use the bluetooth paired to phone that is on wifi. I do think we are putting a lot of devices on our wifi's and I am going to do some channel swapping - hopefully its doesn't take everything else out!

I hope Tag and Android do updates and add ons as it would be nice to see them keep improving.
So far - so good.
Google maps works with iOS since the update last week.

No, Google Maps doesn't work correctly with iOS (can't start a navigation on the watch)...
I also ordered an Android phone (oneplus 3T) for the first time (on iOS since the first iPhone...) because I don't want to live with these shortcomings any longer. Will see how it works once it arrives.

it previously didn't get your location. Now it does. It cannot do navigation yet.

I'm not sure why you believe there are shortcomings. The integration between the android device and iOS is the best yet. It has been reported that updates to the android wear app later this year will open more for iOS.

There was plenty of information available before the watch release about what limitations still existed.

Google maps always got my location (from the first day), but not being able to start navigation makes it kinda useless.

I also had the first generation of the Tag Heuer Connected and used it exclusively with iOS.
My main use-case are notifications, so its generally OK for me, but it kinda sucks that there is always talk about future better integration with iOS and it doesn't really get any better. Sure I can now install apps from the Play-Store, but if some really important things (navigation in an navigation app) don't work, its not the experience I would like to have.

So I will try android for my first time - and go back to iOS if TAG (or Google) is able to make it a good experience. And if Android is not for me (who knows after nearly 9 or 10 years of iOS?) i will go back to my iPhone 7.

Wow, that is dedication in it's highest form for the TAG smart watch platform! Good luck giving Android try, it may be hard on Samsung phone though, to transition from iOS, maybe a pure Android phone running stock Android, would ease the transition, like the Google Pixel.

Google's Nexus or Pixel phones are the way to go. I cannot stand what Samsung does to Android.

I choose the Oneplus 3T as it has a nearly stock Android. I did a lot of research how to make the change from iOS to Android and I think the only real Problem will be the transition from my old WhatsApp chats (a Solution exists, but its not drag and drop). All other things, like Contacts, Calendar, Photos and so on will be no problem.
I thought about the Pixel, but for my first try with Android it is just a little too expensive.
Yes, you can call it dedication, but I´m also interested in trying something new, the Tag gives just a reason 😀

I've known a few people switch to Samsung after iPhone and they all came straight back at upgrade time. Don't know if was quality of Samsung or getting heir heads round a new os. So googles phone is actually decent then?

If I understand your question correctly, you are asking if there is a way to always display the white (or full color) dial; is this correct? If so, this would drain you battery in a few hours and therefore impact operations. That is why I don't think is possible to do this with the "factory" settings.

Your best bet is to download WatchMaker and install custom watchfaces. Those typically have a power saver-mode that will do something like what you are looking for, but be warned that they will consume more battery than the factory faces.

This should NOT drain your battery in a few hours. I have a 2 year-old LG Urbane - and I can put a watch face on it like Pathfinder. It keeps a nice white face on constantly - and easily lasts all day. With my Tag Heuer Connnected 45 - I can't do this. In direct sunlight - you cannot even see the time with the black ambient face. And most - times the "tilt to wake" feature doesn't work - so I have to press the button - JUST TO SEE THE TIME.

Tilt to wake may not be enough. Putting the watch completely vertical (as if you were looking at your wrist on the horizon) will do the trick.
The new AMOLED display is energy efficient. As others pointed out, with WatchMaker running, you can get through the day; just not as much as you would with the factory faces. So WatchMaker or Facer dials are worth trying.

I've had a monza screen for a full day and it drains the battery same as official faces. Others I've used drain pretty fast. Seems to me it's totally dependent on the face created. The monza is mainly black so maybe black third party faces hardly use the battery.

After several attempts I got today finally clear answer from Tag support regarding SW problems I face with my watch.
New SW release solving battery charging bug (97% or 96% in my case) is planned end of April.
For those who have issue with weather widget, google apparently is looking at the problem and will release update soon. X86 version of the google APK was not release despite new arm version seems to be available since Friday last week.

Thanks for this update. I know that there are several updates coming- will post here when anything new is updated

I switched from iPhone to Samsung years agao and would never go back to iOS again. Life is so much easier with Android.

hello, got the watch a few days after it was announced. I was the first to buy it from a local Jared store. I've come to notice when on full brightness several vertical lines down the entire left side of the display. You can only see it when checking notifications or on that bluish/grayish background of Android 2.0. I can't unsee it now.

Has anyone expirence this? I'm about to take the watch back...

Did you remove the second plastic protective film from the display?

Don't put it on full brightness?

How is that a solution for a $2400 watch?

Just saying. Full brightness is very very bright on mine and kinda ruins the look of the face.
