Anyone know if the bezel rotates?
It would have to, that's how the GMT function works. The GMT hand runs at half the speed of the hour hand, and isn't independently adjustable, so you turn the bezel to the second time zone.
I don't fully know the history behind this watch or Rolex's GMT Master II, or which one came first. But to a casual observer such as myself, it seems like TAG Heuer is producing knock-off replicas of the GMT Master II with obviously the same color schemes (black-blue and now blue-red).
Why is TAG Heuer doing this? They are a major Swiss watch company, not some tiny third-world shop. I read a lot of criticism about TAG Heuer online, but "this model is a direct copy of Rolex" is one issue that I cannot help but agree with.
Is this going to be an official release or is it someone playing around? I hope for the latter because I thought the days when TAG was called out for directly copying the Submariner were well behind us.
The Black/ Blue GMT has no Heuer history, so I can't make the case that it draws on any vintage heritage...but blue/ red is different in my book, irrespective of whether it's on a Carrera, Aquaracer or F1.
