Need help for my 1970’s Autavia

I have spent the last 2 years with an independent “expert” who refurbished my Autavia chrono. Problem is that the watch is still not working properly. It will stop mid-day regardless of how wound it is. The hour counter on the chrono is not working. Now the crown came out!!
Where can I find a reputable classic Heuer service tech?
Thank you for your thoughts.

Well the good news here is that your watch is powered by a relatively common Valjoux 7736, which can be serviced by just about any competent watchmaker (as opposed to the Chronomatic movements which many don't want to deal with). Parts of course may be another matter entirely. I'd start searching the Web for watchmakers in your area, and research / contact them about whether or not they have much experience with vintage watches.

Do you happen to know if the movement was in the same condition as the rest of your watch? If it's been rusted out, you might be better off trying to find a complete movement.

Prior watchmaker said the main plates and majority of the movement was fine and rust replaced the rusty parts (not sure which ones.) I am happy to send this sentimental watch anywhere to get it working properly. Are there some names that come up often when discussing great watchmakers?
Thank you for the reply, very helpful.

You should tell us which country you are in first 😀

I'd start by searching Google for certified watchmakers in the area. If you know anyone local, worth asking if they have any experiences.

I had Kyle at Bailey’s look at the watch. His recommendation was to find a donor V7763. Can anyone here suggest where i can find one for a decent price? Thanks in advance.

Generally, eBay isn't bad. You could also ask Kyle if he could source one, they're not the absolute most common movements out there but not particularly rare either.

Kyle was unable to locate a donor movement so far. Anyone know how i can reach Jeff Stein? Would he be helpful? Watching eBay but haven’t seen a logical donor yet.

...although I don't think Jeff would be in a position to help. You might just have to keep an eye out until something comes up.

There is a trading forum on the OnTheDash discussion forum, you could post a Want To Buy (WTB) ad. Just be cautious to vet any responses as those tend to draw scammers.
