Hey all didn't know there was a Heuer forum so I wanted to post this here. I found a Carrera Heuer Valjoux 72 for $500. It works and is being serviced soon. Needs a new crystal and gold crown. The biggest flaw with it is the gold plating. I was seeking a proper replating and was referred to replateit . com but I have sent multiple emails and no reply from them. I made the decision to have my watchmaker clean up the case the best he can and wear it as is. This isn't my number one option but I don't know what else to do! I also noticed it is missing the second track under the crystal. I assume it is quite hard to find a replacement All in all after servicing I will have $800 into this piece.
Congratulations-a really interesting find! Very unusual to see a 2448 Decimal. There isn't too much to be had for parts with it as there isn't so much call for gold/plated parts. The main value is in the movement. I don't know anyone who's successfully had a case re-plated but maybe worth persevering and see if you can find someone to do it in the longer term. In the meantime wear and enjoy it I'd say. Yes the chapter ring is missing-there is CHANCE I could help with that. Feel free to drop me a message at some point and we can chat. Steve
Quick question for you all, my watchmaker wants to know if I want a new crystal with a gold retention ring to fill the gap where the chapter ring would be or just leave the gap with no retention ring? Thoughts?
