As closure, fwiw, I have a Monaco 11 arriving tomorrow, 12 months old but hardly worn with 12 months warranty remaining and the pain eased slightly by 12 months interest free credit.

In the end I couldn’t accept the new price, even with a 20% grey dealer discount.

It’s still expensive for what it is, but I have had lust for 8 years and it was always my horological road not taken. The itch just had to be scratched. Hoping it’s a keeper.

Congrats. Sometimes I miss mine.

Just another watch that looks better off me than on me.

Out of curiosity - if you don't mind sharing - how much was it, and where from?

I quit buying grey when the discount got less than 50%. Every watch in the grey channel is there for a reason. It 50%, it's worth the risk...

Unfortunately I have had to initiate a return. It’s actually a very nice 2022 watch, rather than 2023 as advertised. There were some caseback marks, a slip from either a springbar tool or screwdriver and a tiny dinge that weren’t revealed in response to specific pre-purchase questions. They are actually pretty trivial, but not was I was expecting, and it’s that imbalance between expectation and reality that means I won’t settle with this particular Calibre 11.

For interest, this is my resolution.

I have a Calibre 11 on order from the Watches of Switzerland group at 15% off the rrp. I have a 2 year IFC deal on a credit card which helps a bit. I’m expecting to pick it up a week today, which is the earliest I can get into the AD.

I could have got it slightly cheaper from a grey, but I’m happy with the deal I have. There may be a small a collateral benefit with something less available that I want to buy in the future. Of course if I get buyers remorse and sell it will be a horrible loss, I but have wanted one for what seems like forever, and I am confident it will be a very happy relationship. Having tried pre-owned, I will only be happy as the first owner, as financially foolish as that is.

Pictures when I pick up, then I can be added back to the Monaco 11 owners list!

Glad you’ve managed to get another Dave. Least this will be brand new. 15% is still good, much better than the current RRP.

I recommend getting the blue rallye strap from gulf 60th. I think it’s a fantastic paring.

Hope you enjoy it.

Brad

And here it is! 8 years of longing, 8 years of being my horological road not taken. I love it, I should have chosen Monaco heart over Speedy head years ago.

I also had a lovely purchase experience with Goldsmiths in Liverpool

Maybe I can be added back to the owners list?

Congrats up there for me now with a watch that I feel looks great, looks great on others, probably looked good on me, but know if I owned again, I wouldn’t enjoy it as much as I did first time.

When I got mine I had Monaco heart & Speedy head. Part of me now does want a Speedy again. ::facepalm1::

Doooooooo it. 😁
It’s current in 2nd place behind the no date Seamaster. Waiting to see if other colours and smaller sizes may happen this year. (Heard a rumour they might).

Pretty certain a 14060m 2 liner is off the cards for me, due to price & I don’t know vintage neo vintage Rolex well enough to know if a bought a dud.

Speedy up there (although I moved it on once). Monochrome Tudor in a BB58 size would be tempting also.

Congrats again! Anyone can add themselves to the owners' list, but I've put you back.

Hopefully it's a keeper, especially after 8 years of longing. Enjoy it in good health!

I will probably just put it on a pink NATO. Rob told me it would look killer
