I was cleaning up a few old posts today and came across this one. I had to look twice to remember that this one ever got made:

I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild or for sale. Quite an odd member of the Monaco family
I recall seeing this watch at one of the TH Boutique stores in Tokyo a few years back (while on a biz trip). I think it looks cool, but I never tried it on, as I assumed it would be too large for my wrist like the Monaco 24.

I remember thinking that the Monaco 24 and Monaco LS would become the avant-garde direction for future Monacos. But I guess these weren't popular enough with the buying public, as they've faded away...

I still love the Monaco 24. These were US$9,500 back in 2010, so hugely expensive. Suspect that when TAG Heuer moved away from this part of the market under Biver, these watches no longer made sense. They're massive on the wrist, but a really special watch.

(heads to Chrono24 to see if they have come down in price....not really. Still ~US$7k)

Aside from the TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 (blue dial), I think this Monaco design is like the modern day avant-garde interpretation. Some might get it, others might not like it. From afar, the Monaco and its iconic square case will ALWAYS be recognizable 馃憤

A simple look at this thread, you can already count how many Monacos are in popular media 馃槈

I really like the look of the Monaco 24 too and it had the excellent Zenith El Primero movement. I was so excited about the first Gulf version that I was ready to give 9k to TAG Heuer; a gigantic sum for me, and an amount I haven't paid for a watch even until this day. Sadly, when I tried it on, it just didn't look and feel right on my wrist. 馃檨

But my story had a happy ending. About 8 months later, I found a new C12 Monaco Gulf Grey while on an international business trip. I was beside myself with joy, as this model had never been imported to the US and had long been sold out at most retailers.

The Monaco 24s are great, they still appear in the outlet occasionally.... cheaper than pre-owned as well. Maybe one day.
