Still, on the positive side - at least it doesn't say TAG Heuer on the dial.

Seems like this LE Bamford has crashed and burned with the members of this community.

This is why car manufacturers don't let you choose certain combinations of interior and exterior colours together. Sometimes people need to be protected from their own appalling taste.

I get what they were trying to do
heuer-montreal-11.jpg

There's nothing wrong with the colour combination..for me the interval of indented minute/ seconds track would look better with a simpler pattern. Change a couple of details here and I think it would look a lot better (e.g. thinner yellow banding on the 30 minute counter).

The bamford design should carry across the hour markings on the chrono subdial (useless without them) and the pulsometer/tachy scale so that the colouring around the seconds track make some sense. Too much functionality sacrificed.

The colour scheme is bold but not offensive for me - I think I'd rather have the Montreal in the picture though

In general I quite like the proliferation of autavia heuer02 'heritage variants' and collaborations/customisations will be a feature of brand strategy moving forward although the execution is not quite on point for me. I wonder if tag exercise any sort of design approval?

With respect, that Montreal is pretty awful too!

I was looking for it on their website, but couldn't find it.

Maybe they are just selling their Limited Editions on their physical store, or by special order?

Yes they do. I met with George Bamford last year and we've swapped several messages since (including this morning on a unrelated topic)

There is a pre-agreed list of designs that can be used- essentially the combinations allowed by the configurator- and then each individual design must be individually approved by TAG Heuer. My guess is that TAG Heuer are more worried about designs getting too close to other models that they're planning rather than by trying to be the arbiters of taste. Bamford, by its nature is about customisation, so it's right that they are given plenty of room to move.

In comparison this one is 'better', but why would you choose such a hideous watch as a base in the first place???

I don't think the Montreal is hideous at all. The design works and is cohesive. The custom Autavia, on the other hand, doesn't come together well. The thick black bezel doesn't work with the colour scheme at all, and as others have noted, the design doesn't support the function.

For my first Heuer watch it was a contest between the JH 80th carrera, the carrera 1153, the Viceroy and the Montreal. I chose the Montreal and haven鈥檛 regretted it so far. It divides watch guys and girls but photos never seem to do it justice. When it鈥檚 on my wrist I can鈥檛 stop looking at that fantastic dial! Which 70s Autavia is more stunning? Of course I love vintage and 70s brushed metal stuff...
Everyone鈥檚 opinion deserves equal respect but I thought I鈥檇 root for this little guy 馃グ
